Two beers will be coming our way from the San Francisco brewed, 21st Amendment.
Later in the year will be a collaboration between them and Ninkasi of Eugene for an as yet unstyled or named beer. More on that as the news trickles out of the tap.
And the Monk’s Blood will make a return this year as well.
Thanks to a major expansion Fort George has 16 oz. cans upcoming!
1811 Pre-Prohibition Lager & Vortex IPA are the first two to show up.
The Lager is being brewed for Astoria’s Bicentennial next month. That is how you celebrate history.
Though I would have expected a brown can to match the name. I am glad that Upslope is growing their canned beer offerings.
“Upslope Brown Ale. It’s an English-style Brown Ale with an American twist in that its sweet roasted-malt base is offset by a pronounced hop bitterness and higher alcohol content — about 6.7 percent by volume — than its counterparts brewed across the pond. It has a well-balanced character with a clean, dry finish that makes it easy to kick back several in one sitting.”
Read this update from the Boulder Camera to get the full scoop on this Colorado brewery.
Clever names still abound in the craft beer world. In my top 10 beer names is the canned creation of New England brewing, Neighbor of the Beast.
Here is what the brewery has to say about this neighborly offering…”This HELLaciously delicious Belgian Ale is brewed with pilsner malts, candi sugar and blended with American and German hops. It will help you accept that cloven-hooved guy next door.”
To even the most casual of Search Party readers, two breweries probably pop-up more often than most others. One is Pretty Things Ale Project and the other is Surly.
Maybe it is due to it’s unavailability or it’s reputation around the interwebs or their creativity but I can’t pass up a mention of them at least once a month. So here is this month’s entry…
The barrage of craft beer in cans continues. And that is good news. It means more economies of scale and more beers being shipped! And we can all agree that is a great thing.
Here is a Arizona beer that would look good on my 50 Beers from 50 States list….from Mogollon
“Wapiti Amber Ale. This is our flagship ale and is pronounced wop-eh-tee. The label for this beer is adorned with the majestic Wapiti (aka elk). Wapiti are abundant in northern Arizona. They are large and beautiful creatures, which is why we chose this animal to represent this beer. Wapiti Amber Ale is hand crafted with mountain pure water, two row malted barley, yeast and Yakima Valley hops. Our brewers use traditional methods to create this full-bodied amber ale with a distinct hoppy aroma. “
Tallgrass is a Kansas based brewery that is into the can thing. This beer caught my eye recently…
OASIS
(ABV 7.2%, 93 IBU)
“Oasis is a Double ESB/IPAish beer that came about from playing around with one of Jeff’s favorite homebrew recipes. Here at Tallgrass we love malt and we love hops, and this beer has both of them in record quantities; well, at least records for our baby brewery.
As our summer seasonal at 7.2% ABV and 93 IBU, Oasis is a big beer that has to be priced a bit higher than our regular line of beers. We think that once you taste the over-the-top hops and surprisingly sturdy malt backbone you will realize why it’s worth it.”
The first Cascadian dark in cans comes from 21st Amendment. Beer history being made yet again. Now you can do an canned San Francisco IPA taste comparison. Pick up Brew Free or Die and Back in Black and invite the beer gang.
And if you are in San Francisco and it is still available, you can try another iteration of 21st Amendment IPA with Bitter American.
TODAY: JAPAN V. PARAGUAY
This should be an intriguing match up. Japan is an exciting team to watch and like the US team very difficult to beat this year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them reach the semi-finals.
The best known of Japanese beers is Sapporo. Might be time to hear the whoosh when a can opens of their trademark oversize silver cans.
