L.A. is not Belgium (yet) but one thing that might be translatable from there to here is the combo.

Either grafting on beer to a menu (looking at the lazy people and Bourbon Steak in Glendale) or ignoring it all together. So how about Pet grooming and beer? Pets get treated real well here in L.A. so why not combo with some craft beer? Or follow the Wasbar example. Maybe a combo coffee house in the morning, craft beer at night concept?
San Francisco has had a similar combo, BrainWash, since 1989. It’s on Folsom St. in the SoMa district, pretty close to City Beer Store. But since I don’t go to SF to do laundry, I am always at City Beer if in the neighborhood. I’m sure the beer is not all that good — the $1 cans of PBR and “cheap domestic draughts” on the online menu don’t inspire much excitement. http://www.brainwash.com
