Chrome books for students has never been more important so it is great to see that the new Peoples Republic of South Central has a new beer coming to help those who need a digital leg up. And if there first beer is a starting point, this beer should grow the quality.

An Anvil of Hope
AleSmith has set-up a new nonprofit with a heavy name, Anvil of Hope. The goal of the organization is in three parts, A) assist low-income families facing homelessness B) assist youth aging out of foster care C) help neighbors experiencing financial hardships. This effort from AleSmith owners Peter and Vicky Zien will hopefully spread hope and hops.
Review- All Together / Frogtown via Other Half
I have seen some All Together cans hitting the market but I went with the one that would deliver to me. Mostly because I wanted to test how it worked. So without ado, how did Frogtown Brewing do with the Other Half recipe…
.. this is quite the strange beer. The initial aroma was a weird mix of menthol and mint. I thought, at first, that something was amiss. But as the beer warmed up, the gentle palate brushing bitterness kicked in and some fruit punch notes started to come into play. I am going to let my other can sit a bit and see if time is needed for the flavors to come together.
1% Tap
Smog City will now have a permanent handle dedicated to their 1% For the Planet advocacy. And because the percentage is right there on the tap handle, all you have to do is point and you can help contribute a little good back into the world. Look for it at their main location and brewery.
Brewbies 11
There are quite a number of beer related charities out there but one that I am glad has lasted into double digits is Brewbies and on Saturday, February 8th, its 11th annual festival will be held at Bagby Beer Co. in Oceanside. The Keep A Breast Foundation, “an organization dedicated to empowering young people around the world with breast health education and support” will be receiving 100% of the net profits since the first fest way back in 2010, “Brewbies has raised more than $540,000 for Keep A Breast.”

I didn’t see this POST on the CraftBeer.com website getting as much attention as such pressing matters as Pabst Hard Coffee, so I am urging people to take a moment and click the link to Bottleshare.
The money is super important in this charity but the last part of this chunk of their mission statement is super important too, “When a fellow craft beverage worker is experiencing an emergency or extreme hardship, we not only want to help them financially, we want to lift their spirits, give them something to celebrate, and share our story in such a way that they feel their very own hope renewed.”
I am hoping to see some L.A. breweries join into this mission.
