Your Oktoberfest Beer Friend

This post is a reminder about a L.A. beer company that you can support while also learning about beer.  It is Your Beer Friend and they have an upcoming event all about Oktoberfest.  They will be “doing a public virtual tasting with six beers – all Oktoberfest themed. Learn the difference between Märzen and Festbier and what makes a beer officially an “Oktoberfest Bier”. And, for the truly adventurous, we’ll be blind tasting 6 Oktoberfest beers in order to rank your favorite.”

Register by September 30th right HERE for the October 11th tasting.

Two Everywhere

Everywhere Beer Co. fresh off their Hot Dog Week have hit the two year mark and they have a few things on the agenda that attracted me.

Be ready August 2nd through the 4th.

Avid for Avocado

I am not into Avocado or guacamole which puts me into a minority here in Los Angeles. There is always an exception though, and for me it is the Avocado Ale from Angel City Brewery which I find to be an excellent summer drink.

This year is the twelfth edition of the Avocado Ale Fest in DTLA. Get there early as lines grow and try this summer tradition ale,

Timbo Week

Thanks in no small part to Highland Park Brewery, Los Angeles has a thriving hoppy pilsner reputation. And it comes down to the creation of Timbo Pils and its many and varied variants.

HPB is celebrating their pils with a week of Timbo. Follow their social feeds to see what the specific plans are but might I recommend the guest Timbo night on Friday.

BP11

The now mostly quarterly Beer Paper LA will be holding an 11th Anniversary shindig at ISM Brewing in Long Beach near the end of the month. I will be up north in PDX but this would be a good time to visit ISM, if you haven’t already….

Beachwood 13

On Saturday, July 13th, the mighty Beachwood Brewing will be celebrating 13 years of brewing IPAs and all sorts of other styles at all five Beachwood locations. Five locations and thirteen years which is amazing.  Pick your favorite spot and have fun!

Hazy in Burbank

Screenshot

The forecast is hazy for Burbank on July 13th as Tony’s Darts Away showcases hazy IPAs.  This is a ticketed event which gets you a sampling glass and unlimited teeny tiny two ounce pours.  Some breweries you will see are Highland Park, North Park, Ogopogo, Ambitious Ales and Burgeon Beer.

Absolute 10

Absolution, the Torrance based brewery will be celebrating double digits this year with a big 10th anniversary party.  Might be a good time to re-acquaint yourself, if like me, you get stuck at Smog City and Monkish and have a hard time moving past.
