Frogtown is an area of Los Angeles that I would not have pegged for a brewery. Tiny streets, near the L.A. River, hemmed in by freeways. But Frogtown Brewery has made it work for eight years now and have a weekend party scheduled for the first weekend in October.
If you need more than one day to properly fest, well Benny Boy Brewing has a whole weekend planned for you and whomever holds your stein for you….
On the 21st, if you are looking to get fest-bier-ive, head to North Hollywood and Hop Merchants ( maybe they should re-brand ad Fest Merchants that day ) for their Oktoberfest celebrations.
You will get the usual pretzels and stein holding but they will also have great Okto drafts too.
Enegren Brewing’s Oktoberfest is on the way and if you are looking for a close facsimile of German fests, then this is a good one because it is not just about one beer, though they do have a Festbier ready. But you can get pilsners and lagers as well. Mark your calendars for end of September and enjoy.
Burning Bridge Brewing has reached the two year mark.
Check their socials for the details. If you haven’t visited before, this would be a great idea to make a first visit.
8one8 Brewing needs you to save the date for our annual Parking Lot Anniversary Party. On August 17, 2024, the San Fernando Valley brewery will be turning 9. Follow their social media for more information on what’s in store.

This post is a reminder about a L.A. beer company that you can support while also learning about beer. It is Your Beer Friend and they have an upcoming event all about Oktoberfest. They will be “doing a public virtual tasting with six beers – all Oktoberfest themed. Learn the difference between Märzen and Festbier and what makes a beer officially an “Oktoberfest Bier”. And, for the truly adventurous, we’ll be blind tasting 6 Oktoberfest beers in order to rank your favorite.”
Register by September 30th right HERE for the October 11th tasting.
Everywhere Beer Co. fresh off their Hot Dog Week have hit the two year mark and they have a few things on the agenda that attracted me.
3 special bottle releases included rum barrel-aged painkiller and a brand new barrel-aged stout
a celebratory piñata
a tiki-seltzer bar with adult “capri sun” packs
Be ready August 2nd through the 4th.
I am not into Avocado or guacamole which puts me into a minority here in Los Angeles. There is always an exception though, and for me it is the Avocado Ale from Angel City Brewery which I find to be an excellent summer drink.
This year is the twelfth edition of the Avocado Ale Fest in DTLA. Get there early as lines grow and try this summer tradition ale,
