Four beers were in the running for the best of May but in the end it was a style that I normally scoff at that took home the prize for the month. But first, here are the runners up…
First up is Even Sassier Rye IPA from Three Weavers Brewing. I picked up an orphan can at my Trader Joe’s knowing it would be good. But can number one really exceeded my expectations. So much so that I grabbed another can the next week. A rare action for me.
Next up is Stigmata labeled as an experimental IPA from Brouwerij West. It was heavy on tea flavors which I found really cool.
Runner up status went to the Lost Abbey beer Righteous Son which I got from the Rare Beer Club. Big and boozy but an old ale which is great to see.
My favorite though was a milkshake IPA collaboration between Ogopogo and North Park Brewing. What is amazing, in addition to not not being a fan of the style, is that it was mango centered which is not one of my favorite flavors. But Archers on Lunch Break really worked well.
