OK, the best of the month is hoppy. But within the realm of IPA there is variety. My three best are all quite different. Closely ranked are Teacursion from Bottle Logic, a no brainer, they hardly ever misfire, and this tea inspired version of Recursion is excellent. A swirl of flavors with a tannic tea hit. Then Ambiturner from Ambitious Ales was another IPA that turned my head from the moment the fan was opened.
But the winner is….
Crux Fermentation from Bend with their galactic IPA that was just so damned different from the pack of beers in this style. It was soft but not hazy. There were layers of aromas and flavors. Just complex. It made me think with each sip.
