US of A Brewery # 3 – Foolproof Brewing

To Rhode Island we head for socially distant visit to Foolproof Brewing Company.

I would add the following to my first taster tray…

Ocean State Lager – “This bold, crisp lager is brewed in homage to the great state of Rhode Island. With an extended cold fermentation, we’ve taken careful consideration to preserve the beer’s delicate nature. Ocean State Lager has a soft and subtle malt profile balanced with a refreshing hop flavor.”

Ocean State Hazy Session IPA – “Ocean State IPA is one of the most drinkable craft beers you’ll ever have the pleasure of enjoying. Jam packed with Sultana hops, you won’t believe how much hop flavor and aroma we’ve squeezed into this 4.6% ABV wonder.”

Tatou Rose Saison – “Tatou, French for Armadillo, is a saison inspired by the dry rosé wines of Provence, France. Brewed with the must of Grenache grapes and hibiscus flowers, this sparkling pink ale is dry, effervescent, fruity, and complex. Tatou is a marriage of the sophisticated, delicate nature of an expertly produced French wine and the bold ingenuity and creativity of American craft beer.”

Backyahd – “The ultimate suburban brew, Backyahd is an aggressively hopped American IPA with a tantalizing hop aroma. The beer’s bitterness pairs perfectly with spicy foods coming straight off the grill. Enjoy it with friends, family, or whomever you choose. After all, it’s your Backyahd.”

Pour Judgement

From Los Angeles we head cross country to Newport, Rhode Island and a little beer bar that I have heard mentioned on blogs a couple times now. Pour Judgment has a great name and a great reputation. Notably picky websites like Beer Advocate and Yelp give it super high marks so you know they must be doing something right.

If you want Northeast beers and a great burger then this is your destination. You can find it at 32 Broadway in Newport. Phone number: (401) 619-2115

Coastal Extreme Brewing

My trip around the country highlighting breweries from the comfort of the internet continues on to Rhode Island and Coastal Extreme.

What drew me to their brewery is their Cyclone series. This is what they say about “Cyclones are powerful, unique, and pass through quickly. We consider these beers “extreme”, because each one is either aggressively hopped, unusually flavorful, or high in alcohol, or has some combination of these characteristics. Each Cyclone is brewed with an original recipe for a less common beer style making them incredibly unique. They are then packaged into bottles only and shipped out in six packs. Since we are only making 1300 cases of each Cyclone, they do not last long. Also, just like the real storms that prowl the Atlantic each year, these beers are named with human names, starting with Alyssa, and continuing alphabetically from there.”

Yet another cool twist that you only find at smaller craft brewers who care!
