Double Westy (West Coast DIPA, 9.0%) is easily one of the cleanest, hop forward doubles we’ve brewed. Mosaic, Nelson, Citra and a sprinkling of Sabro come together with notes of cantaloupe, resin, stone fruit and some serious hoppy dankness. Available in cans and on draft THURSDAY.
Purr-gatory
Continuing their feline name trend, Party Beer Co. has a new beer for SoCal, Purradise Lost, “a California-style Hazy IPA loaded with peach, mango, and piney hop flavor and aroma.
I like the Milton nod in the name and hope the label is black and white as well.
Additional Light
L.A. never really gets cold so a light beer is always good to have on hand and Brouwerij West has one for us to try.
This tiger has its eye on you so don’t get lost in the swirl of the labels colors.
Take A Shining To It
Brewyard Beer, right in my ‘hood of Glendale is bringing more haze, but it it is not to be scared of despite that familiar carpet pattern…
Don’t be a dull boy.
IP Fighters
Count me as not a fan of the name or IP stretching by Bottle Logic but the beer itself sounds very intriguing. I am sure we can all find beers with questionable names that inside the can was terrific.
are not lost
Cold IPA seems to pop up here and there like it wants to be a trend but is stuck in second gear. If you haven’t made up your mind about the style, there is a new release from Claremont Craft Ales for you…
El Fremonto
Not the most elegant portmanteau but the duo is super strong…
Fremont Brewing meets El Segundo for, you guessed it, an IPA.
Scotchpine
Stone Brewing has a One Batch Dispatch for you. Jason Dunn / Stone Pineapple Dunn Upside Down Wee Heavy which is out this very day.
“The recipe comes from Jason Dunn’s winning submission in the 2020 American Homebrewers Association Rally. As the name implies, the beer is inspired by pineapple upside down cake. He wanted to create an in-depth malt profile, so it was decided to use a wee heavy base, boil it for an extended time to bring forth the rich caramel flavors, then incorporate pineapple to help cut through the sweetness of the malts and create a delicious decadent dessert beer.”
Been Here Before
Late January and early February are Triple IPA time. And Long Beach Beer Lab has a TIPA that seems familiar…
Perhaps it is time to do a TIPA taste off.
Coasting
Offshoot Beer Co. has a new year round offering and it is a hazy pale ale.
Here is the description: “Bursting with juicy, fruity flavor thanks to generous dry hopping with Mosaic, Strata, Citra, and Cashmere, Coast is ultra sessionable any day of the week. 2-row and wheat malts lend a soft, light mouthfeel for this sessionable ale.”
