Yes, it is only February, but pretty much every month is a lager month in Los Angeles. And Sage Brews has a Thomas Guide looking new lager out…
An Angel & A Shark
It’s been a bit since Dogfish Head has come to Los Angeles, but the iconic brewery is collaborating with Angel City Brewery on a new beer.
“A delicious Saison brewed with honey, vinegar & calamansi, a delicious & juicy Filipino lime which inspired the name of this delicious concoction… Juicy Deets.”
Tomorrow, Thursday, February 16 to not only get in on these Juicy Deets, but to “meet Sam Calagione, founder & president of Dogfish Head, who will be here to meet every single one of you SoCal craft beer lovers.”

Maybe Not So Strange Bedfellows – Part 1
Allagash Brewing Company and Crowns & Hops Brewing Co., are bringing Maine to Inglewood with Cur-8. Arriving in time for Black History Month, the new beer mashes up Crowns & Hops’ 8 Trill Pils pilsner with Allagash Curieux. A bourbon-y Tripel-esque pilsner.
Here are more details about the partnership, “Cur-8 is part of the new Eight Trillion Allies Collaboration Series that partners established breweries with Black-owned beer brands to accomplish true representation in the brewing industry. “8 Trill Pils” is named after a statistic from a W.K. Kellogg Foundation report, “Business Case for Racial Equity.” The report suggests that the U.S. stands to realize an $8 trillion gain in the national GDP by closing the racial equity gap by 2050.”
Which Would You Choose?
It is a fair question, which would you choose…
I would take option three, a West Coast IPA please, the latest release from Paperback Brewing.
Side note, there is a resident pop-up Bun & Blanket now for your smash burger cravings.
Under the Layers
Marine Layer is the latest beer from Offshoot Beer Co. and they are going down layers to a session IPA.
“At just 4%, this hazy session IPA is light, bursting with flavor…”
Puffy
Way back in 2022, Three Weavers brewed Citra Puffs, a hazy IPA. That beer has been downshifted into the more approachable pale ale category with the slightly altered name of Citra Puffs Juicy Pale Ale. Below the image is the brewery description…
“Citra, more Citra, some Mosaic, a little Comet, topped off with a final sprinkle of Citra all comes together in an easy-drinking 5.2% ABV package delivering a cornucopia of punchy fruit aromas. Just a sample of notes from our sensory panel: ruby red grapefruit, orange hard candy, lemongrass, mango, dankity dankness, pineapple juice, lime zest and passionfruit.”
Near Hazy
Rick’s Near Beer launches Rick’s Hazy their second non-alcoholic craft beer this month. I don’t know if strict adherents to Dry January are cool with the contains less than 0.5% ABV. But I am glad that their brand extending.
Here is the beer description from the press release, “Rick’s Hazy, full of citrus and tropical fruit flavor and aroma, is brewed with premium malted barley, flaked wheat, loads of Pacific Northwest hops, and Rocky Mountain water.”
Check In
Los Angeles Ale Works has a new Hazy DIPA for you to check out, Hotel Hazeway with “hoppy notes of peach, passionfruit, white grape and red currant.”
