Sean Suggests for October 2023

This month, gonna do breweries that have locations in Huntington Beach since I will be there for a brief weekend stay.

Green Cheek Pull’n Levers – 5.3% – “A New Zealand-Style Pils w/ Super Sauvin.”

Riip Beer Co. Pineapple Panacea – 7.3% – “hazy ipa with pineapple. straight from the “fountain of juice”, this elixir is certain to ease your mind and refresh your soul. healthy doses of  cascade.”

Beachwood Mocha Machine Picoso – 9.2% – “It’s our multi-award-winning Imperial Coffee Chocolate Porter roasted with coffee from Portola Coffee but with an added twist of Saigon cinnamon and spicy chilies.”

Spooky Review – Warlock from Southern Tier

I remember the first time having a Southern Tier Halloween themed beer. I was in NYC with my wife and ordered it. Was enjoying it before a platter of food as big as me arrived and then the beer was kinda forgotten. Years later, I saw an orphan bottle and grabbed it.

Warlock Imperial Pumpkin Stout is a mere 8.6% ABV. It has that American PSL thing going but behind the curtain is a nice and a bit chocolately stout. The pumpkin actually shines through as well as it warms. More gourdy than pie which is a plus in my book.

Review – Monkster Mash from Spencer Trappist

Classic carved pumpkin look to this fall seasonal from the Spencer Brewery in Massachusetts. The Abbey has made a simple beer that leans more toward the gourd than the “spice” that is in most beers of this type. It is brewed with pumpkin and spices, which, when paired with a Belgian-styled ale interlock together quite nicely. A little slickness to the texture which gives it a push towards pumpkin pie. Added bonus point since the beer pours a bright orange color as well.
