In the Tap Lines for August 2014

header_attractionsSO this month is going to be real heavy on Sierra Nevada.  Why?  Their Beer Camp Tour Across America is well under way and there are 12 collaboration beers (+1)  made in honor of their second home in North Carolina.  SO there will be reviews and more reviews of Chico brews.  And also coming this month…..

The BSP Yearly Disclaimer

Screen Shot 2013-12-15 at 5.05.32 PM

Each year, I start the blogging calendar with a disclaimer.  Not sexy, I know.  Maybe if I made a list of Top Disclaimers or Disclaimer with Chris Paul’s son on Vine or #hashtagged it, then it would go viral.

But here goes, let’s trudge on through the lack of snow on the streets of Los Angeles so that we can re-commence with actual blog posts about beer.

(Throat clearing noise)

Every beer, brewery, event, restaurant reviewed on this site whether paid for or complimentary will get the same treatment when reviewed.  If I don’t like the beer, it will be described as a beer that I did not like, even if it was handed to me by the brewer and I like the brewer.  If I forget (which probably will happen) to mention how I got a beer or a pass to an event, then go back and read that first tortured sentence.

I clearly want the Los Angeles Craft Beer Scene to flourish and I want craft beer in general to flourish.  So my reviews will also take that into consideration.  Some points in time require cheerleading and others require harsh sentences.

I will be as impartial as I can be and I hope to not lead anyone astray in 2014.

December brings the “official” start to the Beer Search Party holiday ale season. One of my favorite times of the beer year. Maybe because it will be slightly cooler here in LA. Almost like fall. So there will be holiday ale posts, holiday ale reviews and as a bonus a report and photos from a Thanksgiving trip to Northern California breweries.

And if you can’t decide, then come grab me and ask for a suggestion! I will set you up a fantastic flight of beers

Review – Dat Moi from Monkish

If all goes according to plan, this will be on tap at Beer Belly for my “Light and Crafty” event on the 9th of this month.  Along with Pivo Pils from Firestone-Walker it is a new favorite summertime beer and perfect for a growler buy because it will go quick.

Dat Moi pours a striking yellow color with a bit of a floral perfume aroma.  Nice big fluffy head as well.  The first sip is sharp but I don’t get either metallic or corn pop like certain lagers I could name.  Instead, I am getting notes of grapefruit and flowers.  Very crisp with nice bubbles.  For a primarily Belgian influenced brewery, Monkish has made a mean lager that I really enjoy. Beer-Hope-Love indeed.

In the Tap Lines for May 2013

If April is when the beer events kick up a notch then May in Los Angeles is when it goes up all the way to 11 and in between the new beers and beer reviews and brewery tours (the sit in your chair kind), I will endeavor to keep you updated on what is happening in the Southland.  To that end I have updated the LA Craft Beer Resources page.  More links but easier to find what you are in the mood for beer-wise.  I also updated my personal favorite page as well.  So check out what I like and compare to what You like.
