Noble Hits Double Digits

I don’t venture south of L.A. County often as I should in person or on this blog. So to remedy the last half, cheers to Noble Ale Works as they have reached anniversary # 10.

This will be a ticketed event with no “day of” tickets sold which means you best head over to the website to pick yours up if you want to celebrate with the royal crew on March 23rd.

Up to Date

You don’t want to not have the latest fashion and you do not want to not represent all of the L.A. area breweries as of 2019, am I right?

Then head over to the Hopped LA website and pick up this sweet t-shirt. Use it to remind you which breweries you need to visit or which are your favorites or whether you like more of the green names than white.

On the 21st, you can celebrate Hopped LA night at Beer Belly in Koreatown and raise a glass to be kept apprised of beer in Los Angeles.

April Cerveceros

The SoCal Cerveceros will take over La Plaza de Cultura y Artes in late April with another gathering of their home brewing crew. The largest Latino brew club in the country and one that has been getting more attention not just in Los Angeles.

Plus proceeds from the ticket price benefit the Gumball Foundation and LA Plaza’s educational programs.  Drink beer and help a good cause.

N’owt 2

Long time readers know that I do NOT go out on St. Patrick’s Day but that blanket ban does not extend to March 16th.  Especially when the 2 edition of the N’owt but Stout Festival lands on that day at Yorkshire Square Brewery.  The Torrance based but British in heart brewery will be bringing the dark stuff from over 25 breweries for unlimited pours as well as a brewers panel for those who want to learn more about stout in 2019.

Make sure that you get in on the Early Bird tickets!

BroxBeerBrew

Looks like Broxton is ready to send some house beers out and they are throwing some deals.

All day on February 9th,
$1 Crowlers to take home with you!
Bounce house and other family-friendly games

Brooklyn in Los Angeles – 2019

Finally, in 2019, Brooklyn Brewery has come to California! Something I have been asking about in at least a post a year since I started blogging way back in 2009.

Beelmans in DTLA hosted part 1 of the event and I had the honor of interviewing Steve Hindy and the man with the custom made hats, Garrett Oliver. More will be written about next week over on Food GPS but let’s say that it was great to taste Sorachi Ace Saison again. It is one weird beer. Some dill notes and funk. Lager, the Flagship was great too. Simple and malt driven. The surprise of the night was the Stonewall IPA which was session strength but was packed with hop flavor.

The 9th Plan

Yesterday, groundbreaking L.A. brewery, Eagle Rock riffed on Ed Wood and tapped a new Imperial Pilsner to celebrate 9 brewing years. Here are some photos from the day though I can’t really convey the smoke machine and the hickory BBQ smell….

No, thank you!
The Plan 9 Imperial Pilsner makes a mysterious entrance.
Eagle Goat Bock made a re-appearance.

The Plan 9 beer was really good. A touch of sweetness. ABV heft to it but not heavy. A great example of their recent magic with pilsner and lager. I am hoping it will be canned soon too.
