From Draft Magazine…
“Exciting news about a new release coming from 21st Amendment this fall.
The brewery will launch its Signature Series line of limited releases with Monksblood, a “dark Belgian with a ton of West Coast hops that’s port-infused with an oak finish and vanilla notes.” The brew, which checks in at 8.5% ABV and will totally alter how you think of beer in cans, required a trip to Belgium to perfect.”
…a full and fun evening. On July 23rd, Stone Bistro in Escondido will be having a pumped up version of movie night. As if you need an excuse to go to this great beer oasis. Anyhoo, starting around 6pm. Wil Wheaton will read from his books, then Rifftrax takes on The Matrix. Snorting of beer due to laughter will be on the menu.
If you enjoyed the cans of Maui Brewing’s CoCoNut porter then this might pique your interest. They have a version aged in RUM barrels!
I know I can’t stop pimpin’ Hopworks. It is a disease. They make great stuff like this…..
Evelyn’s Imperial Sunshine is a big and beautiful double IPA with intense resinous floral and grapefruit hop aroma. This bright, golden beer has subtle malt flavor with just enough sweetness to compliment a powerfully crisp, bitter finish. Brewed in celebration of the birth of Evelyn Sunshine Ettinger one year ago this July 1st, it’s a rambunctious and refreshing beer.

Somedays, it feels like I can’t stay caught up…
“Real Louisiana Satsumas, golden wheat, oats and the finest barley create Abita Satsuma Harvest Wit. Pale and cloudy, like the haze on a hot summer day, this white beer has a sweet and subtle citrus flavor with a touch of spice that is cool and refreshing.
Abita Satsuma Harvest Wit is very versatile and can compliment a number of dishes. This brew pairs well with salads, fish, shrimp and lobster, as long as the dishes are not too spicy. Thai dishes, which often have citric notes in their flavor profile, would also perfectly compliment the orange flavors in Abita Satsuma Harvest Wit.”
The highly acclaimed chef/star of El Bulli in Spain has gotten together with Estrella Damm brewery to concoct something new. Inedit. Which means Original in French.
From the New York Times, “It actually starts as two beers, Mr. Adrià said: a straightforward lager and a German-style weissbier that is seasoned with orange peel, coriander and licorice. Because each ferments at a different rate, the beers are not blended until just before bottling in black 750-milliliter wine bottles. The marriage undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle, like Champagne. The beer is unfiltered, making it slightly cloudy. It has 4.5 percent alcohol and delicate yet persistent carbonation.”
This may be another one to add to the “must try” list.
