Guilded

June 15th is the date for Orange County to shine with their cleverly named Guilded Together Beer Festival, hosted by the Orange County Brewers Guild and held at the Heritage Museum of OC.

The first and fourth bullet points are what caught my eye from their press release:

  • “Exclusive Beer Releases: Savor the first pours of unique Guilded Together collaboration brews, crafted exclusively for this event.
  • Thrilling Beer Competitions: Watch local breweries vie for glory in the exciting Guilded Together competitions.
  • Live Music & Good Times: Swing to live bands and soak in the festive atmosphere with a beer in hand.
  • Gourmet Food Pairings: Enjoy a selection of foods that are as carefully crafted as the beers they accompany.”

Darting to 14

Tony’s Darts Away in Burbank has reached year 14 which means another version of the Darts Away IPA is drawing closer. And a whole weekend of fun on May 25th and 26th.

For 2024, TDA has enlisted four breweries to collaborate with.  Beachwood Brewing, Highland Park Brewery, MadeWest Brewing and Stalking Horse.

There will be food specials and even more special beer tappings throughout the weekend.

Wish I Could Get – A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

It’s always good to have some positivity in your beer collaborations and that spirit is certainly found in the name for new PNW IPA from Gigantic and Ruse Brewing in Portland,  “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood IPA”.

It starts “with a base of Northwest Pale and Munich malts, then layered in the classic and still great citrusy Cascade hop, paired with the newly released Comet hop, and elevated the experience even further with Oregon-grown Chinook hops. All this leads to an IPA loaded with citrusy notes of grapefruit, sweet orange, and a hint of pine, all backed by a beautiful malt profile.”

Casino Blonde

Brewery X from Anaheim has created a house beer for the Yaamava Resort called Mellow Mo’.  It is a Blonde ale which tracks for a mass market – craft curious beer. Wonder if one can get a can at their concert venue that is generating buzz for the musicians that play there.

Rice Segundo

Yes, El Segundo Brewing is known more for their use of hops but maybe they can multi-task with rice too.  Harvest Legend Rice Lager is brewed with “100% California Calrose rice grown by VA Farms 4th generation rice farmers in Pleasant Grove, CA. VA Farms rice is a mark of excellence around the world, truly a Harvest Legend.”

Beer Review – Lagerville by Figueroa Mountain with Wild Fields Brewhouse and West Coast Brewing

This year for Lagerville, Figueroa Mountain traveled a bit of distance to Atascadero and Wild Fields to grab one collaborative partner and then a much bigger distance to Japan to get West Coast Brewing for a Matcha Rice lager.

It pours yellow with a tinge of green (unless that was me reading into it). There is an orange aroma coming off this at first and then in the first sip, the matcha tea comes through the citrus. This is very light and I am getting a bit of tea bitterness at the end.

44 IPA

RnD IPA # 44  is coming from Russian River Brewing with quite the interesting hop list. HBC-586, Luminosa, NZH-106, Riwaka and Zumo hops.

On occasion, bottles will end up in my local Whole Foods and I will grab and review if this one shows up.

El Mundo

Norwalk Brew House has a worldly new beer and it “is an homage to the West Coast and our love for our Mexican-American culture.”

The name to look for is El Mundo Hazy IPA and you might see it at some beer shoppes but it will be a bit of a hunt so keep your eyes peeled and use the beer finder on their website.
