Doodling with Hops

Trademark Brewing in Long Beach will be starting a new series of beers in 2022, look for the name Doodle Pad. The first is a Strata hopped beer….

“Strata Broke The Camel’s Back Cold Pale Ale. Jam-packed with Strata, this smooth small-batch sipper oozes notes of strawberry jam and tropical fruit with a dry, but refreshing finish.”

Duvel Meet Teeling

I hope to encounter the Duvel Barrel-Aged Irish Whiskey Barrel Edition in a fine beer shoppe, and I hope you do too, because it sounds excellent.

“This Duvel Barrel-Aged has matured intensively in the very best whiskey barrels of the Irish distillery Teeling. These barrels enrich the exclusive beer with notes of vanilla and oak, but also with a smoky hint of peat fire.”

Foeder & Baltic

First a tiny primer, a Baltic Porter is a Porter that’s fermented cold with lager yeast instead of ale yeast.

The collaborative version from Beer Co.’s Harland and Embolden is “fermented a Baltic Porter in our American Oak Foeder This version gives off notes of bakers chocolate, vanilla, oak tannins, and a bit of coffee.”

Earthlings

Highland Park Brewery has a new westie IPA, Fellow Humans a collaboration with Orange County’s Everywhere Beer Co.

“Fellow Humans is a 6.2%ABV west coast IPA with lots of fun hops! This clear beer uses NZ Cascade, Eclipse, & it’s also our first time using the hop Nectaron! We’re so excited to experiment with this rad new hop, especially on this beer! bursts of intense aromas like Orange Tic-Tacs, mojito, Big League Chew Bubblegum, & clementines.”

Love HPB beers but toning down the from left field, weird flavor descriptors might be needed though.

Irish Coffee

Readers of this blog will know that I enjoy beers created to taste like cocktails, Fort Point Beer Co. has a new release that would also make my late dad happy, his go to drink, an Irish Coffee in beer form.

Buena Vista, an Irish Coffee Inspired Stout, “Rich and roasty, this stout is brewed with Bittersweet coffee from our friends at Oakland’s @mother.tongue.coffee and aged in Irish whiskey barrels for layers of vanilla, oak, and caramel.”

Uni30

Here in the U.S., Unibroue is kinda known for their Trader Joe’s beers but you just might want to look for their 30e Anniversaire brew.

It is a Belgian Stout with added maple syrup. Sounds like a nice holiday breakfast beer.
