She’s The Brewer is a new collaborative IPA brew with “bold flavors for bold women.” from the combined force of Stone Brewing and the Pink Boots Society using the 2024 editions of the Pink Boots Malt (Odyssey Barley) and Pink Boots Hop Blend (Mosaic, Simcoe, Chinook and Krush).
Voices Carry
We have another entrant in the West Coast (aka hoppy) Pilsner market. This time from almost Glendale’s Paperback Brewing.
For the record, not a clown fan at any time, even on a beer label.
Burt
I do like seeing brewing history dusted off and worked with now and again so that craft beer fans do not forget our flavorful beer past and a beer that I would really like to try is the new Burton which is a collaboration between Thornbridge Brewing and The Kernel. Two British craft heayweights that I have yet to taste anything from. A boy can dream.
Three Traps
We have quite the special brew to talk about today. Three Trappist breweries ( La Trappe, Tynt Meadow, and Zundert ) have banded together on a new beer: Three Rules of Authentic Trappist.
“The Three Rules of Authentic Trappist is a full-bodied, perfectly balanced Dubbel. The beer is characterised by a full, layered taste of sweet caramel, toasted malt, and a hint of peat, combined with subtle spicy and hoppy notes. This leads to an unparalleled taste experience with every sip.”
Part of the proceeds of the new beer will benefit Trees for All.
Hat On
There is a real steampunk hipster on the label of the new Hop Secret Dark Lager, Speakeasy. But whatever your opinion of either is, make sure you jump on board the dark lager train for sure.
Buzzed 24
Each year Smog City Brewing releases Buzzworthy a “bourbon barrel-aged honey stout brewed with over 600 pounds of raw buckwheat honey…”
Two things have changed this year. First it’s in cans and there is a special red wine barrel-aged variant for 2024. And you know that Smog City does barrel-aged variants quite well.
Intended
I do like a good pun and Dogfish Head Brewery has made some clever word replacements for their new IPA, Sage Against the Myrcene. This beer “marries the boldness of a traditional India Pale Ale with the earthy, aromatic qualities of white sage.” Look for it in their winter variety pack.
Not So Motley Cru
On the list of breweries that I do not often talk about, BJ’s Restaurants but the number 25 got me hooked. The chain has that many years of brewing its Grand Cru which started along with the new millennium.
Grand Cru is a “Belgian-style pale strong ale gets its fruity, spicy kick from a unique Belgian ale yeast, plus a blend of bitter orange peel and coriander for a flavor that’s perfect for the season.”
Creatures in the Jungle
Readers of the blog know that I am a sucker for collaborations and also for cocktail styled ales. Creature Comforts Brewing has added a garnish to that by teaming up with Tip Top, makers of RTD cocktails for Jungle Bird.
I cannot recall having this cocktail so I will not be able to compare and contrast but maybe I can have the inspired ale first and then compare later.
Downhill
It is always heartening to see something other than an IPA variant being canned for the first time, 8One8 Brewing is bringing their Gravity Hill Belgian Tripel to to-go out in cans now for the winter season.
