These are the beers that I wish I could taste for the first time.
Haven’t mentioned Eureka Brewing in a bit but they have a new coffee beer out in collaboration with The Boy and the Bear Coffee….
Here in Los Angeles, we will see Chimay here and there but the one that I am still looking for is green.
This big 10% beer was first brewed back in 2012 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the brewery at Scourmont Abbey. It pops up here and there and should be on any craft beer fans radar.
One sub-style / variant that I am fond of is the Golden Milk Stout. One cake that I am not fond of is carrot cake. But oddly, this….
….from Harland Beer has piqued my curiosity because if the sweetness level can be kept in check, it might be a great flavor combo.
The Propagator outpost of Firestone Walker is up to their 9th generation with their latest DIPA….
…coming from the recipe minds of the Venice location.
The Bruery has another real big beer on the way aged in an uncommon barrel. The Madeira Affair is exactly that, a “Madeira barrel-aged imperial stout that will float in at the way high 18.1% ABV.”
“This imperial stout, imbued with the spirit of the Madeira Islands, erupts with aromas of dark red berries, oak, and chocolate.Embark on a flavor expedition with notes of jammy fruit, dark chocolate, and vanilla, leading to a robust, bold, and dry finish.”
Drogone Lambic is brewed and aged by Brasserie Cantillon. It is a collaboration between Cantillon and Cantina Giardino. It is a blend of old Lambic and the pomace of Aglianco grapes. Sounds like a great and old fashioned beer. Cross country collaborations often yield intriguing results. Plus the label is very cool.
I know that craft beer world may not need another charity beer right at the second. Especially here in Los Angeles, where there are quite a few wildfire charity beers out and about (that y’all should be getting).
But…. I would like to see a few Jimmy Carter beers like this one from Wallenpaupack Brewing in Pennsylvania. “Jimmy” beer, in the American pale lager style. A callback to his brothers infamous “Billy” beer.
You can read a bit more about it HERE.
Offshoot Beer Co. is heading up the ABV dial to 8% for their 8th anniversary beer….
…we might need to get two 4-packs of this one.
One of my favorite charities along with World Central Kitchen is Habitat for Humanity. Both have been and will be integral to recovering from the devastating wildfires here in Los Angeles.
The latter will be getting a boost from a new beer coming at the end of the month from Los Angeles Ale Works…
Earlier today, I gave out three suggested beers to buy but now let me get even more specific with West Specific a new hoppy Pilsner from Stone Brewing with a low 4.7% ABV that uses Simcoe, Peacharine, Vista and El Dorado hops. Stone fans may remember that it was previously brewed at their Liberty Station location last year.
