From Outside the U.S. – Part 1 – Duvel and Brazil

I am a big fan of Duvel’s barrel-aged program.  And the next one is a very unique choice.   Going the historical route with Brazilian cachaça from Brazil. Sorta like a rum relative.

Duvel snagged over 400 oak cachaça barrels for their cellars and after 8 months of aging achieved what they say is Duvel but with a “lively fruit punch, which then expands festively with notes of oak, dried nuts and vanilla.”

If I do see the Duvel Barrel Aged, The Brasil Rum Edition. You know I will pick it up.

IPA ReMix

Portland not only has the Trailblazers, we now have a G-League affiliate, the  Rip City Remix and they have their PDX debut tonight!

And they have an eponymous beer as well.  Rip City Remix IPA brewed by Backwoods Brewing. “a straightforward IPA that is brewed with experimental hops that creates a 3 pointer of flavors, including cherry, melon and citrus!”

Gonna have to find a way to get a 4-pack down here to Glendale.

Tiki Zombie

The mini Tiki renaissance continues with a Zombie IPA from Lagunitas.

The Tiki Fusion Zombie is an “exotic fusion of flavors has been crafted to conjure cocktailian notes of orange juice, fresh lime, grapefruit, & allspice; and brewed without summoning any (liquor) spirits. Our homage to the original Zombie and tiki movement, both created in our home state of California.”

Choco-Orange

Athletic Brewing gets a lot of business press for their rise into N/A stardom but they should also get some kudos for their increasingly clever and exotic flavors like their new Citrus Cacao Hazy IPA.

“This brew beautifully blends tart citrus flavor with a mellow sweetness of cacao fruit juice. This isn’t the dark chocolate brew you might be expecting – cacao juice is derived from the sticky pulp surrounding the cacao seeds of the plant that provides a subtle sweetness similar to coconut water, but more tropical. Aromas of grapefruit and lemon make an appearance, adding a sunkissed vibe.”

I suggest checking their beer selection at regular intervals.
