Most of my dreams are of the treadmill variety. Trying to get somewhere or do something but never quite achieving. Common Space Brewing has a better idea, a new triple IPA…
Straw-barb Pastry
I think I have reached my upper limit of beers with “friends” in the name but I do want to see more of the strawberry-rhubarb combo. You win some and you lose some.
Ogopogo Brewing has San Gabriel Valley’d with Hop Secret Brewing for this new pastry sour.
Blonde Day – Coffee
Brouwerij West has partnered with Groundwork Coffee on Sun Supreme, a limited release Coffee Blond.
“New Zealand hopped Belgian style blond was racked on to custom roasted whole beans from Sulawesi that the team from Groundwork hand selected and lightly roasted. While this isn’t a heavy coffee beer, it is a light, straw colored aromatic Belgian style blond ale with tons of floral coffee aroma and light coffee flavor.”
Sureally
Label design is tough and I can be a harsh judge. Paperback Brewing has a bold dime store novel cover with super bright colors look that I don’t vibe with but they have a winner with their Surrealist beer…
…and it doesn’t hurt that the style of beer is one that I, personally, would like to see more of, the Belgian Blonde ale.
Overgrown
Boomtown Brewery has new Artist Series hoppy beer…
“Overgrowth Hazy DIPA is 8.2% brewed with American Mosaic & New Zealand Motueka hops. Aromas of Clementine, Papaya & Strawberries and jungle-like flavors of Apricot, Papaya & Mango.”
The artist is “Christina Chi is LA based working in animation production. Her art is influenced by playful chunky shapes and saturated colors, a love for silly creatures, brand mascots, old comic strips. Overgrowth was inspired by an innate desire to explore a world filled with little critters. “This is how I imagine a fantasy world would look like if I were four inches tall!”
Ten Year Lager
If you haven’t been to the original Highland Park Brewery, here is a reason to head to…
“Our pals at The Hermosillo have been with HPB since day 1, literally! We started off brewing (& still brew) in a tiny space in the back of their spot on York. We’re so excited about their 10th anniversary & so excited to share Hermosillo Lager with y’all!
Hermosillo Lager is a 5.2%ABV lager made in collaboration with The Hermosillo to celebrate their 10th anniversary! Ross & Michael asked for something crisp & hoppy with a focus on more Noble hops, including HopHead Farms Zuper Saazer.”
Actually
Fresh off of a collaboration with El Segundo where they brewed up trouble, Ogopogo Brewing is at it again with this time with BareBottle ‘Actual Friends’
This effort is “a DDH Hazy IIPA 8.5% with Nelson, Citra, Incognito Citra, and Nelson CGX.”
Cold Sabro
And not just Sabro featured in the new beer from Los Angeles Ale Works, Hopped Out Cold Cold IPA
“Crisp, clean and crystal clear. You won’t find any malty sweetness distracting you from the real showcase here – the hops. Sabro, Mosaic and Citra play off one another with a restrained bitterness and refreshingly balanced notes of dank pine, coconut, black current and lemon.”
Travel Writing
Stone has a new One Batch Dispatch out now, Travelogue Triple IPA.
This is a big one, as they describe, “Our trek started with Amarillo hops – a favorite from Stone history that we’ve fallen in love with all over again – combined with Loral and Mosaic. Meanwhile, we used flaked wheat and oats, which you’d typically see used in a hazy beer, but filtered this one for a classic, bright appearance.
That all went according to plan. But the surprise came when this beer that we expected to be a double IPA, came out at a massive 10.7% ABV. Despite the big alcohol content, this beer is incredibly smooth, letting the intense tropical & citrus notes shine with a glorious lingering hoppiness.”
Common Charity
Common Space has not one but two charity beers out in the wild now…
#1 – “Let’s have a Kiki! Cosmic Kiki Hazy IPA has arrived from the mysterious reaches of the cosmos to get the Pride party started. Available today in the taproom, for pickup or home delivery, snag a pint or a 4-pack today and give back to PFLAG Manhattan Beach, an amazing local organization fighting for LGBTQIA youth rights, advocating for equitable education, and providing familial support.”
#2 – “Ogg IPA is officially canned, kegged and ready to pour! A portion of proceeds of this limited release beer will be donated to @socalalzofficial and #TheLongestDay to help in the fight against Alzheimer’s.”
