Bounces

Brouwerij West has awesome can designs. Multiple stickers creating a collage effect on the shiny silver cans. For their new IPA, they have given the artist one full sticker to render a happy (and toothy) cat who is either named Bounce or is filled with bounce.

Log On

I love a great label design and Stillwater Artisanal has a winner that will appeal to the keyboard warriors and day jobbers out there….

Just the little Qwerty business is enough to give a laugh. I don’t know how they chose just one search term for their beer name.

Two Bruery Returns

Now this is a Throwback Thursday, I can get behind. The Bruery will be bringing back two of their old school beers into the can format. And I am excited to see how these beers of yore that were boundary pushing hold up in 2019.

Put the Bear in the Can

Set aside your feelings on 16oz cans and the term unfiltered vs. hazy and instead look at the second hop on the label of Little Bear from Strand Brewing. A good chance to see how this hop works with Mosaic and whether you should look for more IPA’s with that hop attached.

Dots

I saw this photo on Facebook and swooned…

…then I remembered the dates and un-swooned. I bet though that the response might actually prompt cans in the near future from Hair of the Dog. Blue Dot is a darn good, old school DIPA and the (fake) duo to the right sound good in theory too. I don’t doubt that brewmaster Alan Sprints could make all three and make them well.

Not Cake (and more ERB news)

Not it is not a French version of the Hazy IPA…

…but it is an egalitarian message for the hazy loving masses that Eagle Rock Brewery will be releasing in early April. Marie Antoinette would approve.

She might even approve of the Mexican elderberries used in this outdoorsy collaboration with Alosta Brewing

Lastly, the biggest news is that Ting Su and Eagle Rock Brewery is now part of the Female Founders Collective. This group aims to enable and empower female founded business. Hopefully this will lead to more breweries with females in all aspects of the process.

What’s Your Sign

I do not hold much stock in Astrology.  Personality based on when your parents hooked up doesn’t seem as science-y to me but I do like that both my believing wife and non-believing me are both the same sign.  All as pre-amble to a new series of beers from Chapman Crafted. The Zodiac Series. They are starting with Aries with the following information…

♈ Zodiac Series: Aries Hazy IPA
6.7%, 30 IBU brewed with Galaxy, Simcoe, & Citra
Ripe • Pineapple • Outgoing

New Union Jack

Breweries are taking the switch to cans as an opportunity to refurbish their label design….

Firestone Walker has Clash-ed up and Anarchy in the UK’d their Union Jack. I think it works with the fighting poses of the Lion and the Bear.

Racer 16oz

Bear Republic Brewing has started sending out cans of their iconic Racer 5 IPA. I certainly hope that this emergence will mean that customers will pick it up because they see a can that says IPA and discover or re-discover this gem of a hoppy beer. Secondly, I hope it means that Bear Republic will start canning their other beers as well as well as one-off’s and seasonals.
