SoCal and summer go together about five to six months, give or take, each year. That means lighter beers coming to the forefront. Los Angeles Ale Works is adding to your Helles choices with a non-extinction level event. I doubt it is boiled with hot rocks from either space or earth.
Pilsner8
Usually anniversary beers are either A) and IPA or B) something Barrel-aged. Nothing wrong with either choice but I like it when summer anniversary beers acknowledge the SoCal heat and serve up a Pils. And that is what Claremont Craft Ales has done. So pre-order and take an AC drive out to Claremont when this beer is ready.
Public Good
I have really been digging the new labels from Societe Brewing. Not only for that Trader Joe’s Fearless Flyer like design but also for the genteel names being used as well, Agreeable Folk was one and now Good of the Public, heck even the color scheme is soothing to the eyes. But why I wanted to bring this beer to your attention is that it has the Strata hop in the mix. One of my current faves.
An Affair to Remember
It has been a scorching few days here in Glendale, thankfully our local brewery, Brewyard Beer Co. has a refreshing Wit being canned in a limited run this weekend. Now I just need to set up the camera just right to get me sippin from the can just like the classy gent on the label.
Footie
Bundesliga is all but done, the Premier League is winding down with some important spots still in play, and MLS is back and you will need to drink something when watching from your couch. And Ambitious Ales has DDH Hazy for you. AND a cheeky Spanish football referenced beer….
Tiki Taka – Tiki Sour with Pineapple, Peach, Toasted Coconut and Vanilla
Three Ladyface 4-Packs
4-Pack Release Alert and Ladyface Brewery is a combo I did not think I would write. But here we are with the Agoura Hills first ever canned releases. Featured in the trio starting with the appropriate Trois Filles Belgian Tripel, Ladyface IPA, and Anime Pale Ale.
I would tend to the Tripel but am tempted to try the Pale Ale for the first time.
Art and Love
Be on the look out for love as Santa Monica Brew Works has recently releases Spread Love a new Juicy IPA.
The beer combines local artists (Corie Mattie, Ruben Rojas) with charity Meals On Wheels West.
A portion of the proceeds from each 4 pack sold will help support those efforts, assisting with services that nourish and enrich the lives of the Westside’s homebound residents.
Keeping Tabs
White Labs will be selling cans but with their dual twist. And their first release is their signature, Tabberer IPA® The twist being that you will buy a four pack with two different yeasts, WLP001-California Ale and WLP008 – East Coast Ale.
The IPA is named after “Horace Tabberer Brown, a British chemist, who shared a passion for science and brewing. While working as a brewer in the late 1800s, he set up a small lab on-site, which became the first record of a scientist using a microscope in a brewery.”
If you are in California or North Carolina you will be able to buy this and future releases.
Purist
Another salvo from the health conscious beer camp comes in the form of The Purist from New Belgium. Basically they are verifying the sources of their ingredients starting with Poudre River water down to the farms where they get the hops and barley. Considering how many really good lagers there are out there currently, this seems pegged to those who see the calorie number alone.
Life is
I haven’t made my way over to Indie Brewing during this lockdown, but since I have been on a Helles kick of late, I may need to go grab one of these, if only because of the name.
