Primal

First off, this is the first canned wild / sour beer from the BarrelWorks brand of Firestone Walker and second this could be an emerging style trend. The sour flagship that tries to win back ground from the overly fruited dessert beers while staying traditional.

You can read more about the three aged beers that were blended into this one beer right HERE.

Deliria

There is a new elephant in the room. This time in a good way. Brouwerij Huyghe released Deliria a spin-off from Delirium Tremens but this new beer will help the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The beer is desribed as “A pleasant sparkling carbonate content produces a soft, full taste perception. The taste is very full-bodied and is balanced with fruity tones of apple and Chardonnay grapes. Deliria has a fine, mild bitterness in its aftertaste and a splendid, round feel in the mouth which evolves well.”

Written in Chalk

News from Beachwood….”In the beginning… Beachwood’s beer was written on small chalkboards and hung from behind the bar. It’s a tradition we continue at our original brewing location in Long Beach. As a tribute to that, we’re launching “Chalkboard Series,” a rotating selection of small-batch canned beers, available only at Beachwood’s own locations.”

The series started last week with a classic pale ale. Their first-ever pale ale in cans.

Dupont in Cans

In a move that some may feel is anti-heritage, Saison Dupont is packaging their flagship into something other than the iconic green glass….

I think that the label looks really good. It has a Croatian football team vibe going for it. Quite eye-catching. I think a green bottle vs can blind taste test might be in order.

Belgian Pineapple Passion

This sounds like a summer refresher from Brewyard – “Fresh tropical fruit aromatics with a light hint of clove make way to bursting flavors of fresh pineapple, passionfruit and citrus spice. This Belgian Blonde is an incredibly delicious combination made specifically for hot summer days and warm nights at the beach or next to the pool.”

Which Route

I should probably check what percentage of beer posts are about collaborations. I guess as an introvert, I am intrigued by the camaraderie shown inside the brewhouse.

One of the more prolific collaborators has been Beachwood. They are at it again with Radiant Beer and a lagered IPA using The Californiana lingo for the name.

21x 2

There are anniversaries that people look forward to. Milestones like 10 and 20 but when your brewery is named after the amendment repealing prohibition, then that number has to be 21. And since 21st Amendment is a California brewery, it had to be an IPA.
