Wild in the Yard

Hopyard Wildings is a new Hazy IPA collaboration between Hawthorne and Glendale. AKA, Common Space and Paperback. With notes of pepper, peaches and kumquat.

A little extra info on the beer, “Hopyard Wildlings brings together Hazy and Belgians for a big expressive flavor, of a type not currently found in Hazy IPAs.”

Where and When

Speaking of beer travel, sometimes you need to be flexible and Pizza Port has us covered.

“A simple grain bill of 2-Row allows the hop character to shine through in this bright, golden West Coast style IPA. Aromas of mango, lychee and guava lead to flavors of bright citrus and subtle berry notes thanks to the use of Citra and experimental hop HBC 586. This beer has mild bitterness and a clean, dry finish.”

The Alt-everse

In a different corner of the multiverse, alt-biers might be the style to brew. It is a bit of an odd duck fermentation wise which is part of the reason it is not often seen.

But Los Angeles Ale Works is here with their Alternate Universe Alt-Bier.

Here is the brewery description- “Originating from Düsseldorf, an Altbier is a traditional German beer fermented at lower temps with a cold aging longer than an ale but shorter than a lager. We went 100% German malt, adding a twist with an American Style dry hop of Simcoe and Cascade. The balance between hops and malt on this is incredible. Copper in color, fruity, light bodied with a crisp and bitter finish.”

Bizarro

Smog City came through with the IPA series in 2021. And for 2022 they are going big as in embiggen the ABV.

“Aptly dubbed the Bizarre Evolution Series, this series will embody our collective spirit of forging ahead, innovating new and exciting beers, and making the best out of this new reality.

The first beer in this exciting new series will be released on Friday, January 21st and we’re coming out strong with a Triple IPA that is 11%.”

Before Texting…

….there was paging (and as of earlier this month Blackberries). To honor that point in time, and hops, Brewyard Beer in Glendale has…

Your Hops Keep Paging Me – “A true Westcoast IPA filled with Amarillo, Simcoe and Cascade Hops.”

Party Tricks

News of a new AleSmith IPA might not perk ears up (it should, their IPA game is on point) but the news that their first 2022 release, Party Tricks will be a six-pack and in 16oz cans should.

Here is the beer description: “Brewed with massive amounts of Strata, El Dorado and Citra hops, this West Coast-style India pale ale evokes a blend of invigorating aromas, brimming with juicy notes of grapefruit, strawberry, and passion fruit.”
