Harvester Brewery

Beer is verboten to those who cannot handle gluten so this is welcome news to those who would like tasty brew that their systems could process. Enter Harvester Brewery.

They are new to the Portland scene which seems full to bursting. Thanks to Brewpublic for getting the word out!

Black Hole Brewery

about_cta_over
I don’t highlight enough foreign breweries, which isn’t right,. I need to educate myself and my faithful readers about where to go while on vacation. So here goes…

Burton-on-Trent is known for the water but it is also the home of a nice amount of small brewers. Black Hole Brewery started life in the old Ind Coope bottling plant close to Burton town centre in January 2007.

These two beers intrigued me the most from their list…
Supa Nova
ABV 4.8%
Supa Nova is a premium pale ale brewed using lager malts with a top fermenting ale yeast. A variety of hops from Europe and America combine to provide a floral taste.

No Escape
ABV 5.2%
A combination of chocolate, crystal and roasted barley produce the subtle series of smooth flavours in this award winning dark beer, whilst a balance of dry bitterness and spicy aroma is achieved by a late hop of Goldings.

Chuckanut Brewery

If I needed another reason to kick myself, here is another brewery that I missed while at GABF. Then it went and won major awards!

Here is their address:
601 W Holly St.
Bellingham, WA
98225
(360) 75-Beers

They have an Autumn beer dinner coming up. It might be a great time to check out their award winning beer.

Hollywood Brewery

On the heels of LA Beer Week, we lucky Angeleno’s will have Eagle Rock Brewing coming soon and now another entrant based in Hollywood,.

Hollywood Brewery is the brainchild of the people behind the newly opened Stout on Cahuenga near BoHo and Essex House. They are planning an ambitious amount of different beers when they are up and running.

Things are starting to turn the corner here.

Ithaca Brewing

Ommegang and Cooperstown are on my NY beer list and now add Ithaca as well. They have a couple of noteworthy additions in Brute and Eleven that sound great. Plus they have a nice regular line-up that includes a brown that makes me thirsty.

Julius Echter

If you are still in need of Oktoberfest style beers, this new entrant has what you are looking for…
Julius Echter

They have a pretty good German Hefe as well as pils and a dark beer. Plus they have been around forever while most of the other breweries in Franconia have gone under.

Weyerbacher Brewing

Shifting to the East Coast. Here is another brewery on my list to visit or sample beers from…
First some background, “Weyerbacher History
Weyerbacher Brewing Company was founded in 1995 by Dan and Sue Weirback. The company name is the original spelling used by the first immigrants from Germany about 200 years ago. The spelling has morphed slightly over time, but we thought the original sounded best for the brewery.

How it came to be!

In the beginning, Dan was an avid homebrewer and microbrew connoisseur. One weekend, late in 1993, while vacationing in Vermont, Dan and Sue toured the Long Trail brewery, back when it was in the basement of an old mill. Dan was looking for a new business to get into but it was Sue who suggested he start thinking about starting his own brewery. As they say, the rest is history!”

Duck-Rabbit

Since I had some big and dark beers at Freaktoberfest, I thought I would highlight another Halloween appropriate brewery from the East coast.

“Welcome to The Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery! We are a new packaging microbrewery (we sold our first beer in August of 2004) located in Farmville, North Carolina. We specialize in beautiful, delicious, full flavored dark beers. When we brew, we’re happy and we dance. During fermentation, we sing softly to the yeast. Please try our beer and enjoy a taste of contentment!”

This beer sounds especially tasty…
The Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout is a traditional full-bodied stout brewed with lactose (milk sugar). The subtle sweetness imparted by the lactose balances the sharpness

Landskron

This is one of my favorite breweries in Europe. They have an awesome hefeweizen but their beers aren’t super distributed even in Germany. One day, I hope they will make it here. Even a little would be welcome.
