Clean ReUse

I have seen Ecover products in multiple stores but I have not seen this new cleaner from the Belgian company. It is a “washing up liquid” that is “partly made from beer waste.”

Those waste ingredients are water and ethanol and plus, the bottle is made of 100% post-consumer recycled plastic and plus-plus the cap is made of 50% post-consumer recycled plastic too.

I will be looking for this on shelves.

Needed or Not? – Non-Tipping Can Cooler

Maybe I am not active enough.  Why am I not multi-tasking?  No place would be off limits to the latest hazy IPA if I had the Toadfish Non-Tipping Can Cooler. Labeled as the “un-spillable beverage cooler” it uses that modern suction cup technology to stick a can anywhere there is a smooth surface.  Oh and it will keep that beer cold too.

Now in the video it is mostly water based activities.  So salt water is getting into your Gose while you surf or boat and at one point the koozie is on the roof of a car.  Gotta think the police would love that idea.

Needed?  Not.  You can wait until you reach a non-rocking place to have your Bourbon Barrel Aged pastry stout or you can hold the can until you are finished.  What percentage of beer is actually being lost to slippery surfaces?  Gotta be a real niche inside a Russian Nesting Doll of niches.

Map that Flavor

from the Draught Labs website

Finding the right word is sometimes extra easy and sometimes excruciatingly hard. And when trying to convey beer flavors, you can quickly lose the thread searching for just the write word.

There are a few thesaurus type beer products out there but this set from DraughtLab have a couple extra things going. One is that they are brewer based so it is not a watered down beer ticker list. Secondly, they do hops but they have two malt maps as well. Since they are industry based, they have bulk pricing. So maybe find a few friends who could use a vocabulary boost.

Needed or Not – Brewery Lunchbox

Now this throws me back to my grade school days. I had so many “needs” for a cool Star Wars or Six Million Dollar Man lunchbox back in the day.

Usually this re-occuring post focuses on gear that is certainly NOT needed but in this instance, I am going to vote for 1/2 needed. The lunchbox is a keeper for sure as is the t-shirt. Don’t think I am allowed to bring anymore glassware into my house and a koozie is just not needed in my mind. Maybe socks and a hat would have been better or a can of beer would have been better. But points for creativity for thinking outside the (lunch)box.

Spielkarten

I am always on the look out for beer gifts that are not hats, shirts or bottle openers. And I have found a good one that might help with your German beer drinking…

I saw these at the Paso Robles General Store just off the park in downtown but I bet you could find them with some looking on the interwebs.

The Next Package

It would be safe to say that back in 2010, no one would have predicted that beer shoppes would be primarily filled with 16oz cans. Bombers were the reigning king and cans were seen as the realm of big beer.

It is not too early then to guess as to what will be the package of preference in five years time. Maybe this….

…yeah, I doubt it too due to simply figuring out how to shelve them. But the question still stands. What will we be pouring our beer out of. Cans or bottles? What size? Will 10oz stubbies reappear?

Right From the Bat

With baseball season well underway, beers will be drunk at ballparks and bars but if you want to class up your beer of choice and feel closer to the game, well then….

Recool and Reuse

The above is being branded as the Igloo Recool, an green cooler constructed from 100% biodegradable materials. They are $10 each and will be first on sale at REI stores (or online) before going full main stream.

According to Igloo, the “Recool is a hard-sided cooler made from a mix of paraffin wax and recycled tree pulp.” It can keep ice icy in the 12 hour range and has handles and cup holders as features.
