The initial opening peek into the Beachwood Blendery happened yesterday. Now, everyone will have to wait until maybe 2016 to see the space open again.
To some that seems the height of weirdness or folly. Why have a space that is closed?
Because you can’t blend (it’s in the name folks), without aging the beer. And since the brewery next door demands space and ingredients and time too, that means that it will simply take even more time for beers to be ready. Sense a theme? Years may pass before they the Blendery is open on a regular though truncated schedule.
But the first two beers show promise. The Berliner was nice and tart without being puckery and looked hazy and beautiful in the tall glass. The Brett Saison was nice but didn’t sparkle yet. Maybe that will come in time as well.
