I continue to get further away from the usual painter’s tools such as easel, palette, brushes, etc.
I am not saying that brewers need to stop using mash tuns, whirlpools and hop torpedos. In this case, tools are the ingredients. And maybe instead of looking for the next hot hop, maybe change up a yeast strain, spring for the malt from a small farm that will add something different to a tried and true recipe.
It doesn’t have to be wild ingredients but just take a look at the palette and see if you are tied overly much to a way of doing things.
