The Beer Search Party reviews We Love LA beers – Part 5

There has been such a fantastic outpouring of support for Los Angeles by breweries far and wide in the wake of the devastating wildfires of this past January.

The charity program spearheaded by Common Space Brewery has garnered quite a bit of support from California and the rest of the Fractured States of America.

Here are my thoughts on the latest beers that I have had, both from outside California…

pFriem Family Brewers went the IPA route but theirs is a super light yellow color. It is nice and crisp with notes of orange floating into and out of focus on the palate.

Hop Butcher for the World did up a Citra and Mosaic West Coast Pilsner which pours more orange on top and yellower at the foot of the glass.  There is a hint of pilsner here but this tastes stronger and danker than even a pale ale.

Here are my thoughts on the latest beers that I have had, let’s get going….

Far Field pale ale nice sharp bite. Grapefruit. Strong. Little buttery though at the back end.

Smog City a West Coast IPA that has a hazy mouthfeel to it.  A combo of bitter and vanilla.  Some pine on the back end too.

Lawless light orange in color. Piney bitterness followed by a hint of grape.

Radiant Beer Co. is a just fine IPA. Medium dose of bitterness but also a touch buttery

Stone Brewing – Pasadena has a proper orange juice looking hazy. Very lemony mixed with tangerine too. Hops scrape the tongue.

Long Beach Beer Lab is a combo of dank meets citrus. Nice strong hit of bitterness. Flavors mute as it warms though.

Frogtown pours a darker amber color. Getting lime and malt. Earthy hop note. Almost a British IPA.

Common Space the organizer of this endeavor went the hoppy lager route. More on the lager side than the hoppy. Little orange mixing with the malt.

SoCal Cerveceros Love LA

Famed and awarded home brew club, the SoCal Cerveceros are pitching in for the We Love L.A. wildfire relief with a four-pack survey of styles.  It will probably be limited in supply so follow along the socials to make sure you can snag one.  The Irish Red is a nice choice as is the Saison.
