More Snow

Sierra Nevada has done a couple different Snow Cones. If memory serves, there was a White IPA and Belgian one previously.

Now there is a tropical Snow Cone…

…and it’s a lovely gesture for a retiring member of the SN team too.

Featured Beer Review – LA – In the Fronds Tropical IPA from Los Angeles Ale Works

I really like the plant shop vibe from this Los Angeles Ale Works can label. The shimmery silver and the greens are popping. Plus the name is spot on for a tropically tinged beer.

This beer is bursting with pineapple. I cracked the can and it was rushing with that distinctive aroma. That pineapple follows through into the taste but interestingly there is a significant hop bite here. Very West Coast IPA in temperament. It is a super light yellow color though. Contradictions aplenty but it is a really fine IPA.

Plant Life

Los Angeles Ale Works has one last can release for 2021. And, yes, I am posting about it in 2022.

“In the Fronds (Tropical IPA, 7.5%) has all the hazy, juicy, characteristics you love – mango bubblegum, papaya, Sauvignon Blanc grapes, a hint of citrus – without the haze.”

AKA Uno

The latest news from Strand Brewing was the introduction of cans but now they are joining the NE IPA brigade but with a bit of a twist.

They are starting with a DIPA named ONE, which one assumes will be followed by TWO. The beer is dry hopped with El Dorado, Jarrylo and Idaho 7 hops and will ONLY be available in bottles at the brewery this Saturday. No distribution-No draft.

Fruity at Sierra Nevada

capture
Sierra Nevada will ring in the new year with two new additions to its everyday line-up. Unfortunately, both seem to be going for the fruit IPA ride. That will be an even worse sounding joke when you read the next paragraph.

New Beer # 1 -Sidecar Orange Pale Ale
A 5.3 percent pale ale brewed with oranges. Basically a perfectly fine and standard bearer Pale Ale getting fruited up.

Not as New Beer # 2 – Tropical Torpedo
A close variant of the “Beer Camp Tropical IPA” from earlier this year. Just adding the Torpedo branding to it.

Buried under that lead is the beer that actually sounds more interesting, a Golden IPA, a wheat IPA. But that is slated for a seasonal release in spring.
