Claremont Craft Ales recently announced a new series of IPAs called the “Departure Series”.
These “new IPAs with a retro movie poster look. We are starting it off with an out of this world double IPA called “ABDUCTED IPA.”

Alamo Drafthouse finally opened in L.A. yesterday! But more importantly, we have a first look at their beer choices…..
Heavy on hops and pilsners which is to be expected. Mostly CA based breweries but also a smattering of LA (though I wish there was more) and speaking of wishes, it would be nice to see an Alamo beer brewed for this location only. Maybe Indie Brewing since indie films and fests will be playing on the screens. My two suggested picks come from the Dark & Malty section. The Smog City Sabre-Toothed Squirrel and the Three Weavers Deep Roots ESB would be my go-to’s.
Movies, beer and quiet
If the L.A. Times and the construction around the Macy’s Center downtown is to be believed, DTLA is inching closer to our own Alamo Drafthouse which would be such a boon for both movie fans and craft beer fans as well.
The trend at theaters has been toward 4D and immersion and food delivered to your seats but none of it is cheap and it usually ain’t all that gourmet. Ballpark and stadium food and drink usually has more choices and more quality to explain their higher prices. Alamo will change that. Just check out their Deschutes dinner that they paired with the movie Stand by Me:
