Time to talk gin again bit this time with both a Belgian and beer twist to it as Lindemans, known for their sweeter fruited lambics and some harder to find distinctly Belgian beers also has a gin! And it is made from Old Kriek distillate!
You know that I will be seeing how I can get myself some.
Belgian brewer Lindemans has two new mixed fermentation beers coming out under the Tarot name. Both are low in sugar and have no sweeteners or colorants.
“The brilliant, golden blonde Tarot d’Or has a beautiful white foam collar. The pleasant, sultry aroma refers to mango, lemon and honey melon, among other things, with nuances of ripe pear. The flavor is full, juicy and round with hints of ripe exotic fruit. The beer has a nice sweet and sour balance and a pleasant, smooth drink.
Tarot Noir is also a blend of high-fasting beer and lambic to which blueberries, blackberries and black elderberries have been added. The beer colors dark purple in the glass and has a full, compact foam collar and a sultry and intense aroma of dark and red fruit (black berry, cherry, cherry, strawberry… ). The natural flavor is juicy and round and reminiscent of red and black berries with a hint of cherries. Tarot Noir has a nice acidity and a surprisingly soft and fresh drink.”
d’Or would be my first choice but Noir sounds great too.
Brouwerij Lindemans has reached a really major milestone and has a new beer made for the special occasion.
“To celebrate our 200 years of existence, we present to you our exclusive anniversary Cuvée: Oude Gueuze Anniversary Blend 2022 “Cuvée Francisca”. After a spontaneous fermentation, this 4-year-old lambic and young lambic aged in oak moths refine in bottles for 12 months.”
The brewery continues, “…the ancient Cuvée Francisca unveils a flavor of agrum and oak as well as notes of vanilla, combined with a sherry aroma and a refreshing acidity. An ancient dry, complex and perfectly balanced gueze.”
On this blog, you see 7th anniversaries, 11th anniversaries (those are just two recent ones). But I have a whopper for you today. 200.
Lindemans will be bottling an 8% ABV blend to mark the occasion and it will be named Francisca. Might be a good candidate to buy one and hold one for your next annivesary.
Be on the lookout for a lovely sampler pack of Lindeman’s lambic ales. You get “one 8.45 oz. (250 mL) bottle each of Framboise(raspberry), Pêche (peach), Kriek (cherry) and Apple (aka Pomme) lambics.”
You don’t see the level of brand extension when it comes to Belgian Gueuze but Lindeman’s is adding a spicy kick of ginger to their latest offering.
I wonder how sharp the taste will be.
