McMinnville, Oregon home of my alma mater, Linfield is smack dab in Oregon wine country but beer has been there too. And now there is a MacCollab from four of the seven breweries that call Wildcat Country home. Four Rows Saison-Style Farmhouse Ale from Golden Valley Brewery, Heater Allen Brewing, Grain Station Brew Works, and ForeLand Beer is a “crisp and dry brew features aromas of citrus and black pepper phenols, and was made with a carefully balanced mix of Pilsner, Vienna and Rye and hopped with Saaz and Hallertau Blanc.”
Sean Suggests for September 2023
Small town breweries can get lost when you live in the big city of Los Angeles but sometimes you have to drive away and find the out of the way spots. Here are three worthy of trying….
Heater Allen Bobtoberfest – 5.6% – from my college town of McMinnville comes this excellent example of a festbier from brewer Lisa Allen.
Bright Spark Good Natured Saison – 6.6% – giving off flavors of clove, yarrow flower and peach from a family owned brewery just south of downtown Ventura.
RT Rogers The Crystal Gazers Hazy IPA – 6.7% – The Monrovia brewery tucked up in the mountains has joined the haze craze with this new IPA.
Oregon Beer Day – Gold Dot
Two Oregon titans are combining on a new project that will land in my college town of McMinnville.
Lisa Allen, head brewer at Heater Allen known for fantastic pilsners, and Kevin Davey, who as brewmaster at Wayfinder— led the Cold IPA trend are combining forces.
The Heater Allen brewery in McMinnville, Oregon, will also launch a new venture and line of beers at the facility to be called Gold Dot.
If you are looking for the next hot beer style, it may be born at this new brewery partnership. And Gold Dot is now on the Oregon list the next time I visit.
Smoking Hell
Don’t tell me the beer style but tell me that it is a collaboration between Wayfinder and Heater Allen, and I would point to the glass and say pour. Even me, not a rauchbier fan, would want to try it.
