The Grand Central Market downtown will celebrate its 100th year on Saturday, October 28th with “historical exhibits, guest speakers, and specials from each market vendor.” Over at the Horse Thief, they will double down on their Texas BBQ with Texas beer Shiner. Shiner was started by Kosmos Spoetzl in 1909 so both are appropriately well aged.
Brewmaster Jimmy Mauric will be sending “Ruby Redbird” made with Texas Ruby Red grapefruit and ginger, “Oktoberfest,” a festive Marzen-style ale , “Holiday Cheer,” an old world Dunkelweizen brewed with Texas peaches and roasted pecans and also the limited edition “777 IPL” part of the Shiner’s Brewer’s Pride Series.
Beer (and) Horse Thief
Horse Thief BBQ just outside (but still part of) the Grand Central Market has scheduled up three more tap takeovers so that you can pair California #independent beer with Texas BBQ.

If you thought that Golden Road OC would be the second outpost then you have bet wrong. Your next Hefeweizen / Wolf Among Weeds/ Point the Way spot will be downtown at the Grand Central Market.
The market has really undergone a gentrification transformation in a microcosm with gourmet coffee, cheeses, kombucha and BBQ taking over stalls and now barstools will be part of the equation. Maybe even a special beer for the location to go along with taps, growler fills and cans to go.
Horse Thief BBQ and (now beer)
The Grand Central Market in downtown LA has made some changes and now the mix of vendors is trending more trendy.
You can get Hop Tea at B&A and now, right outside you can get BBQ and craft beer at the Horse Thief BBQ joint that has a brand new patio to enjoy your food and beverage on.
There will be ten taps including a couple of Shiner beers from Texas to quench your beer thirst.
I want to try the rib tips and aged cheddar mac ‘n cheese with a Smog City Little Bo Pils.
