Best Beers of December 2025

I have three bests for the final month of the year. Starting with the only non Christmas beer of the trio, Dunn of Darkness from Route 30 Brewing which I mentioned in an earlier post. A really nicely done dark Czech Lager. Struck the right balance of big malt taste and sprightliness.

The runner-up was Christmas Bock from Enegren Brewing. A little jolt of fruitcake energy for the holiday season along with a nice little punch of alcohol to it.

This months winner is the Rum Barrel edition of Santa’s Secret Stash from El Segundo Brewing. The oaky barrel quality shines through and there is enough of a rum presence to add a layer to an already impressive base beer.

Holiday Ale Review – Christmas Bock from Enegren Brewing

One of my favorite beers to see on shelves this time of year is the annual Christmas Bock from Enegren Brewing. They are a beacon for lager lovers in L.A. So let’s dive into their winter bock…

Pours a lovely garnet color. Nice glace fruit aroma to it. There is a little upfront sweetness but a toasty malt soon takes over making a Christmas cookie effect. Getting a hint of spice as well that ties it all together.

1134

Just to throw another number at you. Enegren Brewing is now up to # 17 in their Single Hop Pilsner Series #17. And the hop is still so new that it does not have a name. It is HBC 1134 a “new experimental hop bred in the Yakima Valley. It is an American twist on classic noble hop flavors, making this perfect for a German Style Pilsner with noble elements and flavors of floral, woody aromatic, herbal, and a hint of citrus.”
