History Day – Prized Old Ale

I want to bring a documentary to your attention about an English brewery, Gale & Co. in the town of Horndean.

From the start, I was worries about how this was going to end but, thankfully, there is a bittersweet ending that gave me hope about how brewing and people history can be honored at least a bit.

Too Firk Too Furious

Firkfest 5 is coming! And the Tiki theme will be back as well. So if you are a fan of pineapple, mango, guava and coconut and you prefer only well-run events with a curated list of breweries then go get your tickets.

This is a great event and one of the very few that I have traveled out of Los Angeles for.

For 3/11

Constant readers will notice that I don’t go to a lot of festivals. Not nearly as much as my younger days for sure.

But there are a few festivals that are must attend and Firkfest held in March each year, is one of them.

Founder and organizer Greg Nagel has themed this year’s party as “Tiki”. So expect a tropical tour for your tastebuds.

Stop reading and go get your tickets.

Caskerator Collaboration

Cask beer is starting to seep into the craft culture here in LA.  Story Tavern has special Eagle Rock casks. We have a cask festival in Orange County and a Cask blog.  And thanks to “Hugh Sisson of Heavy Seas Beer has collaborated with Paul Pendyck of UK Brewing to develop a “caskerator” conversion kit available for purchase.”

I like have both regualr draft and cask options available because both present the beer in a different light.  Some beers really get a boost from having the slightly higher temp and the lack of gas.  Plus it gives the beertender a workout.
