A New Chain of Beer Shoppes?

I think many #independent beer fans have dreamed of opening their own shop where they could stock what they like and stand behind the bar proudly surveying their handiwork.

Which is why this post on the Beervana Blog struck me.

My version of a beer shoppe comes from a bit of a darker place, a place of poking at the Whale Broz. and Bandwagoners by “surge pricing” IPA’s and other passive/aggresive tactics but I do like the idea of having at least a small section devoted to styles that are not found in great numbers. Put them onto a decorated end cap and really push them in the manner of “Do you want fries with that?” Because innovation and not being satisfied is what brought this movement into being and we really do need to hold onto that, lest we become stagnant.

The Beer Junction

Both Portland and Seattle have an epic amount of great stores to satisfy your beery needs. And now Seattle has a new entrant on the west side.

The Beer Junction is owned by Morgan Herzog and will be providing plenty of craft beer and Thursday night tastings too!

They join Seattle institutions like Bottleworks, Pike Street Beer & Wine, Full Throttle Bottles and 99 Bottles too. If you can’t find the beer for any occasion in Seattle, it is your own fault.

Eugene – Beer Buying Central

One neighborhood in Eugene, Oregon is the beer buying equivalent of the Mall of America. The latest entrantSixteen Tons adds to an area of the Duck town with several other beer retailers, including Beer Nuts, a smaller bottle shop about a block away, and the Bier Stein, a great bottle shop that also offers beers on tap and food, about two blocks away. And then there’s the Circle K convenience store across the street.

Bet there are some happy craft beer lovers in that part of town.
