Beer History Podcast – Lite Beer

Now this a grand combo.  The strange and fascinating lite beer and historian Maureen Ogle.  First, click HERE for the podcast.

This podcast episode is a great primer for the timeline of “lite” beer and how it came to be such a juggernaut from humble “diet” beginnings.

Check out their other podcasts as well.

Beer History Podcast – Forgotten Hops

I was excited to hear from professor and author Jennifer Jordan on the Beer Me podcast (part of the All About Beer family of podcasts).  She is in the process of researching her new book Before Craft Beer: Lost Landscape of Forgotten Hops.

The book will chronicle the Wisconsin hop growing industry way back in the 1800’s.  A great topic and I am a sucker for stories about lost times in history.  The podcast is a little slow and doesn’t dig into too much but does give a starting point for when the book comes out.

The Good Ship Brewdog

The BBC podcast arm, aka Sounds has a new multi-part podcast out about the Punk culture at BrewDog that isn’t all its supposed to be, to say the very least.

Click HERE to give it a listen. I have finished all six episodes and you will not look at BrewDog or James Watt the same again.

On Deck

Podcasts like TV, film and music has its candy and good for you choices. I say that not disparagingly but to let you know that if you want to know more about the agricultural side of beer life, then I have the podcast for you from the Countryman Malt Group.

It’s called the Brew Deck and it is where you can turn for deeper dives into malt, hops and other beer topics. When you tire of the hot takes and beer snobbery, give this podcast a listen.

Year of Podcasts – San Diego Beer Talk Radio

Since November is the traditional time for San Diego Beer Week. It seemed only appropriate to highlight a podcast from the greater SD region.
Capture
Hosted by Greg Homyak, Brian Beagle and Melinda Hooker who have covered Green Cellar and their barrel program in an interview with the people in Cellar 3. Or the folks behind the Bine and Vine bottle shop. They also stray from San Diego from time to time as well.

Check our their thoroughly annotated listing for each podcast and find the brewers or breweries that you want to learn more about.

In the Tap Lines for April 2015

header_attractions
There will be some Firestone Walker coverage this month. For that, I do NOT apologize. This year marks the third trip to beautiful Paso Robles to catch up on all things Parabola, Easy Jack and Feral. Don’t worry, there will be plenty other beer news too.

~ e-visits to three breweries from new-ish brewers in the GunBarrel District of Colorado Asher Brewing, Vindication Brewing, Finkel & Garf
~ special reviews of beers from Bell’s (that I didn’t do last month)
~ Heads-Up on Los Angeles Beer Events
~ Three suggested beers to buy this month. One light, one medium and one dark
~ Beer-centric podcast review, Tales from the Cask
~ I will tap the Firkin and give my no holds barred opinion on the craft beer world
~ … and Session # 98 will converge bloggers onto a single topic, this month it is Cans or Bottles

Here are two events to get your April started in the Los Angeles craft beer world:
1) April 7th – National Beer Day at Project Taco
2) April 15th – Beers and Cheers with El Segundo Brewing at the Doughroom.

Hop Logic

355

The more beer info the better is what I say and I will take on all who disagree!

Now there is another source of beer opinion from Hop Logic.

Here is their take: “Hop Logic is a new podcast which delves deep into the rapidly evolving world of the craft beer industry emerging with the personal stories from the characters who give this world life. Hosted by two lovable losers, T-Bone and M.C., Hop Logic is a fun and not-so serious romp behind the curtains of craft beer.”
