Back in the day when bottles were the craft rage, I bought reusable bottlecaps made out of a soft plastic-y material. After many years of cans, maybe I need to buy full can bottletops. Just not from Amazon.
Needed or Not – The Lift
Apparently the initial version of the Draft Top wasn’t up to customer snuff.
“The LIFT now lifts and removes the lid from the can. No more pushing down on the lid or removing it with your fingers like their previous versions.”
Problem? solved. I mean, you have other options. You can either drink out of the little opening in the can or pour it into a glass or other drinking vessel. I just do not see how even an improved tool is really worth it. Plus, you will probably just forget it in the dark recesses of a drawer when you might actually use it.
Verdict – Not Needed
Bus of Beer
I do not have allegiance to a car brand like some do. I have heard the FixOrRepairDaily jokes at Ford’s expense of course. I do like design though no matter where it comes from and the Volkswagen bus just looks cool, and it is less gas for the smaller model above that would make your party entrance all the better. Just because the cooler is cool doesn’t mean you get to skimp on beer though.
Needed or Not – Brewery Lunchbox
Now this throws me back to my grade school days. I had so many “needs” for a cool Star Wars or Six Million Dollar Man lunchbox back in the day.
Usually this re-occuring post focuses on gear that is certainly NOT needed but in this instance, I am going to vote for 1/2 needed. The lunchbox is a keeper for sure as is the t-shirt. Don’t think I am allowed to bring anymore glassware into my house and a koozie is just not needed in my mind. Maybe socks and a hat would have been better or a can of beer would have been better. But points for creativity for thinking outside the (lunch)box.
Right From the Bat
With baseball season well underway, beers will be drunk at ballparks and bars but if you want to class up your beer of choice and feel closer to the game, well then….
Needed? or Not!
I will admit up front that this gadget is well-nigh useless in sunny all year SoCal. But that said, do you really need a rooftop magnetized beer holder to chill your beer?
Even in chillier climes, you could really only use a few months of the year. And then, only, if you don’t buy from a cooler (which you should), or buy in advance. Is there a market for forgetful winter people and if so, I think you need to be more organized and not just fill your life with gear to enable your lack of planning.
I do like the name, Blitzen and I think that if attached correctly, you won’t get beer/wine missiles hurtling through freeway air but this is NOT NEEDED>
Fermented Reality
You may have seen the special IPA specific design glass, and like me, thought, that would be cool but I have a car trunk full of branded shaker glasses and tulips and taster glasses from festivals. So I haven’t bought one yet.
But the people at Fermented Reality who will also sell you a beer caddy, beer t-shirt or a print for your wall have gone and created a plastic, shatterproof version. The downside is that it is only wholesale now and won’t be ready for a few months but you can mark it down for future thought.
A New Way to Cool
Mother Earth is very important to beer. And now, not only because of the ingredients!
I saw this image on FaceBook a week or so ago…
…and was impressed by not only the cap design (for a can cooler, oh irony) and the simple idea that I find better than fancier tech designs for super quick beer chillers. And I think in a slow food world, this is a much better way to appreciate the beers we have. Because you have to wait.
You can read more about it HERE.
Swag Brewery
So this is not an actual brewery. But the swag part is correct. Do you want some classy and cool craft beer items. Then Swag is a good interwebs stop.
You can get some hop candy. (Weird and interesting)
You can buy some cool art prints with beer themes
and they even sell beer soap too.
Perfect for the beer geek in your life.
