A Beer out on the Patio

Two weeks ago, I gave you the details on the expanded and improved Beer Belly One Night Stands for 2013.

Now more news from the Koreatown craft beer haven:
“We want to provide a venue for our community to enjoy craft beer and food in the type of weather that can only be found in Southern California. Uses for the patio are endless… summer events, weekend brunches, and warm summer dinners! Our business has grown, and the extra space is what we need to be able to comfortably accommodate as many people as possible.”

All you have to do is follow this LINK, and help grow our beer community in Los Angeles one patio larger than it is now.

There are different perks for different dollar amounts but the bargain is for a $60 investment, you can be one of a very small group that gets an epic beer night at Beer Belly. And you know that Jimmy will have beers that match the word EPIC

New for the Beer Belly 1 Night Stands

As if the One Night Stands (and the videos that come with them) were not enough. Now Beer Belly is adding a little extra something to sweeten the deal…
“A Gift: We want to thank those of you who make it out to our One Night Stands. Like, REALLY thank you. Those of you who make it to 10 of the 12 events next year will receive a special thank you package. We don’t want to reveal the contents, or overhype what it is….but we think you’ll be pretty surprised.

How to Qualify: Come out to 10 out of 12 One Night Stands next year. We’ll set up a spot at the bar to take a picture to show that you were here. Go ahead and upload that picture to our Facebook album or email it to us at drink@beerbellyla.com”

One Week in May

It is that special time of the year where we celebrate craft beer even more than we usually do. American Craft Beer Week!

So, get out there and show the craft brewers that you appreciate that they offer you so many great choices in beer!

Here is a snapshot of where I will be headed.

Monday, Maximilliano for pizza and Craftsman beer flight

Tuesday, I will be at Tony’s Darts Away for a Firestone-Walker night. Maybe snag some more Wookey Jack.

Wednesday, On to Beer Belly to taste Fruet from the Bruery for the first time.

Saturday, the Farmer’s Market themed event at Blue Palms. Followed by Eagle Rock for their annual Session Fest. Low ABVs with big flavors.

Grilled Cheese + Craft Beer

Can you believe that the 10th Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational is upon us? How time flies. And this year, Beer Belly is in charge of the beer. And that means a great list of breweries. So check out the information and head to the Rose Bowl for some inventive sandwiches and a serious beer selection….

“The Beer Belly family is happy to announce that we will be participating in this year’s Grilled Cheese Invitational (Saturday, 4/28).

Not only will we be hawking our infamous 4×4 Beer Belly Grilled Cheese, but our very own Chef Wes will be competing in this year’s competition.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned it’s that you folks love having a fine craft beer to accompany your grilled cheese. Well to that point, Beer Belly has been working with the GCI to organize/curate a Craft Beer Garden with proceeds benefiting Big Sunday. Show your support for your local brewers and for Big Sunday by swinging by and having a beer. We will also be selling our BB GC inside the beer garden, so come by have a bite and drink craft beer!”

Here are some of the breweries that will be participating:
Craftsman
Ladyface
Eagle Rock
Hangar24
Bootlegger’s
TAPS
El Segundo
Black Market
Golden Road
Stone
New Belgium
Lagunitas
Firestone
Monkish
Oskar Blues
Maui
Great Divide
Duvel
Ommegang
…and more being confirmed

One Night Stand

I love Meet the Brewer nights but a much better name has been devised by Beer Belly in Koreatown, A Series of One Night Stands, the first of which is starting February 22nd, 2012

“Behind every craft beer is a story, and starting in February we’re bringing the story to you.

We all love craft beer, that’s a no-brainer…but just how well do we know the stories of the beers we drink?

This year the Beer Belly family is going straight to the brewer and bringing back the stories of local brewers to share with you and the Beer Belly community.”

What this means for you:
-Throughout the month stay tuned-in to our Facebook and Twitter for news, stories, and specials…starting with this video from our visit to Hangar24:
-Mark your calendars (see below) and join us for our One Night Stand community nights where we’ll feature a variety of beer styles from the featured brewery

L.A. Beer Week – Day 13 – Beer Belly

It has been a long Week(s) but the finish line is in sight. But instead of looking past a day, I and beer buddy Richard headed to Koreatown and Beer Belly for a night that featured the beer of El Segundo and the social networking of Untappd.

I got to try the new Picket Fence Wheat IPA. Which is another winner from El Segundo. Rob and Tom from the brewery made the eastside trek to be on hand as well as Untappd to celebrate.

I also had the Double Dry Hopped Nelson which is really tremendous. The Nelson hop balances out the bitterness that really is strong on this one without being overpowering.

Oh and both Richard and I got badges tonight!

BeerBelly

It is great to see on the Beer Belly Facebook page all of the progress to their opening. I just wish it would come sooner.

I have met Jimmy Han who is behind the venture and he is truly passionate about craft beer and he is bringing it to a part of town that doesn’t have a lot of options but is growing.

UPDATE: I visited on day 2 of Beer Belly being open and can report that the beer list is great. Bootlegger’s Plum Riot and Craftsman Citrus Saison and the food is not boring pub grub. Plus you can get a Fried Twinkie.

I heartily recommend visiting.
