Today’s Beer

Now that I Am rocking an iPad I have a new found zeal for finding new craft beer apps and one of them that I encountered on the Craftbeer.com website was a little one called Today’s Beer which is a really well photographed example of how to show off a beer bottle and the beer inside. You get a 360 degree view and all the details on the beer.

It will inspire your beer photography and get you thirsty for craft beer. Every day.

Ziggy the Yeast

Ziggy A

If your love of craft beer extends to games / apps and you want to learn more about the science behind beer without cracking open a science textbook then Ziggy is the yeast for you.  And it is available on both Android & iOS for 99 cents.  Grab a beer and try it out!

Breathe into the App

If you use your phone for everything then maybe you will be in line to try the Breathometer app.

Basically, you get a small device that plugs into your phone, talks to the app and makes presto, you can breathe into it and get an alcohol reading. A reading that will be kept in a history of every time you blow into the device.

It will cost $20 which could get you a crappy, low-end breathalyzer test since most are in the $100 range.

Truth be told, I have seen people do weirder stuff with their phones.

Brew Vault

I don’t know if the cellaring beer craze has peaked or not. It certainly hasn’t with me. But this app might rekindle the fire if it is easy enough to use.

Brew Vault is a complete inventory and journaling app that allows you to manage your collection. Brew Vault is also an excellent note taking system that will record your most detailed tasting notes. Your notes can then be shared with other Brew Vault members who love craft beer just as much as we do!

Brew Vault’s database is member driven. Your entries help grow the database for all members. Don’t see a beer listed? Add it. Your addition will sync all Brew Vault members.

Brew Vault’s inventory system allows you to track your collection by lot, vendor, quantity, price, bottle size, date, storage location, and more!”

Beer in Japan

Yes, the world of apps are crowded. I had my choice of 8 metronome apps and those were just the free ones. And yes, many apps have one neat feature that grows old. The vuvuzela app that I had for all of 2 days would fit that description.

But the Beer in Japan app (an offshoot of the website of the same name) is in a small niche and it is useful.

You can plan your trip and then use it when you are in Japan to take notes too! It doesn’t require wi-fi and it has coupons!
