H2

The only bummer about my Christmas trip to San Juan Capistrano was that Heritage BBQ was also on vacation those days.

But I have a new reason to try again, this time in Oceanside at the second location of Heritage that also includes a brewery and they have a former Pizza Port brewer at the mash tun.

You can read all about it HERE from San Diego Beer News.

Where Mumford At?

I forget when I posted with happiness a sign in a retail space at the ground level of the Legendary apartments/condos in Glendale that had the Mumford Brewing name on it. It was a while back. Sigh, the sign is there and nothing else.

And alas, their across Alameda location in the Arts District is much further along…

Those are much better signs to see. When they will open is unclear but I would guess 2020.

Ale in the Ivy

Los Angeles Ale Works is getting a 2nd tap room location and it is in the “in the works” Ivy Station development that will be the new home of HBO amongst other shoppes and eateries. The location will have 24 taps, a patio to enjoy your beer on, and takeaway sales if you do not like patios. Expect last half of 2020 for this to open.

Sunset II

So in perusing Facebook during a work break, I saw this piece of news….

An already beer stuffed York Boulevard is getting even MORE! Sunset Beer is expanding to Highland Park bringing their curated bottles/cans and taps.

ESBC Pints & Pizza

El Segundo Brewing is opening a second location but it won’t be too far and the focus will be on pizza (with IPA of course). The new spot in El Segundo will be called The Slice and Pint.

Pizza specialist Noel Brohner will handle the slice side of the brewpub business and though no beer will be brewed on site, it will still be really, really local and most certainly hoppy.

If you have set your timer, The Slice and Pint is expected something mid-to-late summer at 130 West Grand Avenue.

1st Visit – HPB Chinatown

Highland Park Brewing snuck in their Chinatown branch opening into the weekend of March 10th.

I snuck in on weekend # 2 and boy do I like it.

The location is across the street from the Historic State Park with its walking trails where you can watch the Gold Line trains heading into Union Station one way and Pasadena the other.

There is outdoor seating, barstools, tables and tall tables. There is even a dedicated cans, bottles and crowler order area. The inside is bright with light (almost opposite the dark interior of the Hermosillo). The long empty former warehouse has a sloping bar on one end and bright red tile. Everything is just light and open.

There is a short but fun little food menu so you can drink and eat right next to the tanks that are making the beer. So far, Good Smooth DIPA, 90 Hour Weeks Hoppy Pils and Four Pillars IPA have been brewed at the new place with Timbo Pils on the way.

This is just the type of place that I like and I am sure it will become very popular.

Lost In Cardiff

Not Doctor Who / Torchwood Cardiff but California Cardiff by the Sea is where the Lost Abbey has set down their 2nd location. And it is called….
1
…the Confessional. It is located in the Seaside Marketplace and will feature beers from (obviously) The Lost Abbey, Port Brewing and The Hop Concept. You will be able to try tasters, purchase pints and grab growler fills as well as bottle sales to-go. The Confessional will have 24 taps and a wide array of beers from the three brands and they are open starting at 11am Monday through Sunday.
