Review – Reverb Imperial Pilsner from Boulevard Brewing
Wow! A pilsner with a plus 90 rating! Wait, it says Imperial in front of it. But this is a damn fine, simple pilsner from Boulevard. No bells and whistles. No extra dry hopping. Just a bigger ABV pils that is clean and lovely. Good bubbly look to this dark yellow hued beer. Some notes of vanilla sneak in but mostly grain tastes here.
And I like the Nigel Tufnel name check too.
Firestone-Walker @ Blue Palms
It started with X and is now at XIV. And I and fellow beer geek Richard were there to try the nearly complete line-up of anniversary beers at Blue Palms.
And here is the proof…
I voted for XIV while Richard selected XI as his favorite. The best part is we get to do this again next year.
Highly Anticipated Seasonal # 1
When you think of Widmer Bros.strong>, you probably think wheat beer then maybe to their other light fare that they offer. But they can brew up a mean batch of dark beer too. In fact their first success was an Alt-Bier.
Well now you can try their ’11 special release. A Russian Imperial Stout. Here’s to hoping that it isn’t one of the alco-bombs that are so prevalent and so over-hyped.
