Craft TV? Ever?

In this era of streaming where there is even a show about foot surgery.  Yes, it is gross.  Why is there no beer content?

The closest I have seen recently was yet another kitchen challenge show in the same format as all the others but swapping in cocktails as the main theme.

There could be a show about the whole process.  More science, more PBS with some history thrown in.  It could be a travel show.  Going from craft beer town to craft beer town with a jovial Huell Howser type host. I am not big on competition shows but there is probably a documentary series that could be done on getting the top level of Cicerone certification.

There does not seem to be much, if any, about most beverages so maybe it is a liquid thing.  But I wish there was more out there for us fans. Even if it is just 9 minute videos on a dedicated YouTube channel but that is for the next post.

Puzzling

I am not a puzzle person. My wee brain ain’t wired for it. But with a beer and knowing, I will get a bit of a beer style refresher education, makes this puzzle intriguing….

If it does the same for you, head HERE.

Holiday Season 2023 – Day 2 – Long Nights from Alaro Brewing

One of the standouts from this year’s trip to the CCBA Conference was Alaro Brewing. I adore their labels and the fact that they package their beer in these weird things called bottles. Including Long Nights…

“Winter brings short days, long nights and our Cold IPA! This special IPA is made using an ale yeast fermented slowly at cold temperatures and is made with high-quality malts for a soft mouthfeel complimented by a juicy hop bill of Citra, BRU-1 & Sultana for layers of citrus, pineapple & topical melon. The cold fermentation creates a light and clean mouthfeel that is perfect to showcase all these amazing hops!”

Doctor Who & A Beer

Doctor Who is back! So is David Tennant. Not as the 10th Doctor but the 14th.

And I have just the beer for watching the three specials and then the Christmas Day appearance of the 15th Doctor, Space Time Sipper DDH IPA a collaboration between Tarantula Hill and Casa Agria.

“With an extraordinary hop lineup including Mosaic, Citra, Cryo 586, Simcoe, and Riwaka, this brew is crafted for the ultimate cosmic experience. It’s like sipping on a starlit dream, with the first dry hop showcasing Cryo 586, Citra, and Riwaka, and the second stage burn featuring an intergalactic blend of Nectaron, Simcoe, and Mosaic.”

For a deeper cut, Urban Roots has a barrel-aged beer by the name of Demon’s Run that has brandy barrels in its pedigree. An only viewers and River Song know where the brandy is hidden on the Tardis.

Need another L.A. suggestion? Benny Boy Brewing has a new bourbon barrel-aged Cherry cider coming December 10th, named Madame Ruby. And the new Doctor’s companion is named, Ruby Sunday.

Holiday Season 2023 – Day 1 – Winter Ritual from Hopworks Brewery

Each year, from the day after Thanksgiving to the day before Christmas, one of my two daily posts will showcase a different holiday seasonal. So it is appropriate to start with a beer from Hopworks Brewery in Portland, Oregon.

“This Cold IPA is light and crisp. Seamlessly blurring the line between a refreshing lager and a bright, aromatic IPA. Notes of pine sap, lemon zest, and grapefruit with a dry, crackery finish.”

Happy Thanksgiving

A great Thanksgiving for me is an unstressed Thanksgiving. No worries about cooking a turkey, no who to invite or not, no traveling through a packed airport.

Give me a turkey sandwich and a side and I am good.

And a few beers too.

However you best enjoy the day, enjoy it. Give thanks for the last 11 months and thanks for the next 11. We all need it.

Cheers!

Glitter Redux

I know that the glitter beer trend has come and gone and also gotten a bit of shade thrown at it in the process but if you are still looking to fancy up your beer then you can look into well, Fancy Edible Glitter.  It is an edible glitter that has been “formulated for both food and drink”.

Juke Joints, Jazz Clubs, and Juice

Mixologists are seen, in general, as a white dude.  Even though the history of cocktails is not that limited at all.  Which is why it is great to see much lauded author Toni Tipton-Martin puts the history of Black mixology back where it belongs.

The book is Juke Joints, Jazz Clubs, and Juice and it “spotlights the creativity, hospitality, and excellence of Black drinking culture, with classic and modern recipes inspired by formulas found in two centuries’ worth of Black cookbooks.”

You can find drinks like the Absinthe Frappe, Clover Leaf Cocktail, Jerk-Spiced Bloody Mary and the Gin and Juice 3.0.  Sounds like a treasure trove of cocktail ideas.

Wall Art

With the holiday gift season approaching, beer and other fun beverage fans may be looking for something a little more interesting than a gift card to a chain liquor store.  Well, how about art, like this….

The new beer glass graphic is cool but there are bourbon and gin posters that look cool to.  So internet wander to 33 Books to check them out.
