Nearing the holiday finish line and we pick a winter IPA from Captain Lawrence as the next beer to highlight and not one of their famed sours.
The Beers of Christmas – Day 27
We head up to Upland Brewing for a little Latitude Adjustment….
“Winter is coming. Cold weather, hats and gloves, and frosty windows are fast approaching, but we’re taking a stand against winter with a new seasonal beer. Starting November, Upland fans can just say no to snow with Latitude Adjustment, a tropical pale ale with pineapple and coconut.”
The Beers of Christmas – Day 26
Short’s Brewing is next to appear on the Christmas Ale list with a new entrant, Juicy Tree.
“Juicy Tree is an experimental India Pale Ale made with blue spruce tips, juniper berries, and cranberries. Big aromatics of piney evergreen and sweet berries tingle the senses. After some slightly tart and tangy flavors up front, a harmonious balance between pleasant fruit sweetness and bitter pine is reached. The finish is laced with a resiny stickiness that flows naturally into a lasting bitterness.”
The Beers of Christmas – Day 25
Back to Washington State to meet up with a cold bird, Black Raven Brewing and their Frost Beak.
“This winter lager is inspired by traditional German style Doppelbocks. This beer is lagered (cold conditioned) for two months to ensure a clean and balanced malt flavor.”
The Beers of Christmas – Day 24
More Noel which is appropriate since Jolly Pumpkin is a festive sounding brewery name.
The label is new this year for the beer described as “Deep mahogany and malty, layered hops, flavors of figs, raisins, sugar plums, cashews betwixt rum laden truffles.”
The Beers of Christmas – Day 23
I recently had an excellent new canned beer from Uinta called Rise and Pine. Sort of an amped up Anchor Christmas Ale, but there is another wintry offering from the brewery as well….
The Beers of Christmas – Day 22
Louisiana is our next stop for Christmas beer and we land with our reindeer at Bayou Teche Brewing for their Biere de Noel.
The Beers of Christmas – Day 21
Colorado takes the spotlight today with Upslope Brewing and their festive red can of Christmas Ale.
“Holiday spices complement the dark fruit and spicy notes from Abbey Ale Yeast. The distinctive holiday aroma, ruby red color and rich malt flavor make this ale perfect for spreading Christmas cheer.”
The Beers of Christmas – Day 20
Our next sleigh stop is Monrovia, California and Pacific Plate Brewing for their Belgian take on a Christmas Ale.
Christmas Beer Review # 2 – Winter Welcome from Samuel Smith
Instead of hops and American amped up add-on’s, the next holiday seasonal up for review is the traditional Winter Welcome from Samuel Smith’s.
Pours a garnet orange. That first aroma is pure British to my nose. The effect of malt and water together without impeded by hops. This is bright and pops on the tongue. A little metallic tang to it. Reminds me of orange pekoe and toast.
