Let’s jaunt back to Hawthorne, CA to get a scaredy cat…
That is the face of a cat bored of holiday shopping. So it is good tidings to have a Hoppy Holiday Ale from Los Angeles Ale Works.
Off to Cincinnati and their local brewery, Rhinegeist who go the White Ale route (get it? snow) that many breweries take to avoid the Winter IPA or Stouts that dominate US winter warmers.
“Fresh additions of grapefruit peel and zesty ginger make for a bright and balanced White Ale with a refreshing nip.”
Our next seasonal comes from, right here in Los Angeles. A city that eschewed Christmas beers because, I guess, lack of snow?
Common Space Brewery is bringing cranberry and cherry to their Chubby line of Milkshake IPA’s. They are also decorating cans of some of their core beers with holiday trimmings.
Who here hasn’t been on this list at some point this year? But maybe it isn’t such a bad place to be if there is a Victory barrel-aged beer available for you. I think 11% abv will leas to more naughty, not less.
“Rum Barrel Aged Winter Warmer small batch ale gives off alllll the vibes; a luscious medium bodied copper ale, with warming notes of vanilla, rum, brown sugar and cinnamon that will seduce your taste buds. “
AleSmith wants to honor the Christmas warrior with their Holiday Hero. It is an Imperial Stout with Vanilla, Chocolate and Nutmeg hitting 10% ABV.
Our American Trappist brewery, Spencer goes a different route to Santa’s glass with an amber lager. They have brewed it with honey and spices to add that festivity.
Time to fill a non-frosted glass with something seasonally appropriate, perhaps a Cold IPA?
Start a new ritual with this Cold IPA from Hopworks Urban Brewery.
Next up for the start of a new month is Washington State’s Fremont Brewing and their Imperial Winter Ale…
“This is a tasty Winter Ale to snuggle up to, released for the winter months when snow blankets the terrain of the mind and the body craves warmth and, let’s be honest, it’s dark and wet most of the time so your beer better be damn good. Winter Ale is dark like the weather with roast chocolate and warm malt flavors balanced by noble hop aroma and subtle hoppy spice.”
Time to add the seasonal flavor flair. The Great Divide Yeti has us covered with peppermint bark in their imperial stout.
Santa is off to Germany for his next pint from Landskron…
“The elegant festival beer for special enjoyment in winter. A beer with a balanced aroma, in which the malt notes are harmoniously paired with floral hop scents. It promises a pleasure with a full, round body, in which a fine hop bitterness is perfectly integrated and which ends with a full malt body.”
