New to the Congregation

With a new lead brewer comes revamped recipes at the four location strong Congregation Ale House. Per a recent e-mail, “Along with our recently tapped Abbey Ale there are now 6 new beers”.

Interesting new beers to me are:

C+A DARK of the COVENANT – ” A fun new approach to this beer includes a European ale yeast strain and Bavarian Mandarina hops. The finished beer then rested additions of fresh vanilla beans, Ghanan cocoa nibs and sweet and bitter orange peels. Along with a new grain bill expect a full bodied light roast ale with a touch of citrus on the nose, silky mouthfeel and subtle cocoa finish!”

C+A SAISON AUTOMNE – “a variant of this style with holiday leaning flavors of the fall- bright honey crisp apples, black peppercorns, fresh sage, roasted chestnuts and a classic Saison yeast strain giving the nose enough funk to compliment all of the above!”

C+A SOLA SERIES- Chinook American Single Hop IPA – “This new launch from C+A is an experimental series in different styles using single hop expressions. Brewer Bjørn Gjesdal created this light-bodied IPA with ample Chinook hops introduced at different stages of the boil, dry-hopped during fermentation and abundantly double dry-hopped in secondary…”

Congregation Crowlers

Looks like the Congregation Ales mini-chain has added a to-go option. But only from their Azusa brewpub.

Crowlers of selected beers will now come in 32oz cans emblazoned with their logo and will come in handy since they generally do draft only. Now you can take their beers to parties or wherever you crowl.

SGV Beer Dinner

unnamed
If you want to get a sampling of San Gabriel valley breweries in one setting the the upcoming Congregation Ale House beer dinner will accomplish that goal.

The breweries on the list are: Sanctum Brewing Company, Progress Brewing, Claremont Craft Ales, Alosta Brewing Co, as well as host, Congregation Ales.

$49/person with limited seating.

One Block

As I perused the new Beachwood Blendery on Sunday, I got to talking about the sign for a new DogHaus hot dogs and craft beer spot that will be in the same block that already houses Beachwood Brewery and Congregation Ale House. Then I learned that a second Beer Belly location might be in the works as well, again in that block. Add in the fresh press juice (how long will that fad last?) shop and the local coffeehouse and this block is literally a beverage paradise.

If I had that many choices in one city block, I would be sooooo poor. And that isn’t counting the new-ish bar just a block away, The Brass Lamp.

5 Years of Mass

Back in 2010, Congregation Ale House opened its Long Beach Chapter for “mass”. Fast forward to 2015 and they have (3) locations AND a brewery.  And the time has come for a party.

Tomorrow, Saturday, September 5th 2015 all Chapters will be festive. There will be commemorative glassware + 8 different Congregation Ales brews.
