Sean Suggests for August 2020

Loyal readers of the blog will understand why the first beer made the cut for August. Hint – Gin. But I also wanted to highlight baseball being back with Arrow Lodge and collaboration with Mumford.

Lightest

Einstock Icelandic Lime & Juniper / 4.8% – “A unique blend of Icelandic Juniper berries and a dash of lime, combined with Noble hops and Munich malt, evoke classic Gin & Tonic cocktail-inspired flavors that make this a refreshing craft beer like no other. The senses are greeted with a vibrant citrus aroma, crisp mouthfeel, and dry bitterness on the finish that result in a naturally sessionable Icelandic beer truly inspired by the famous tipple.”

Medium

Arrow Lodge Belli Bombs IPA / 6.7% “West Coast style IPA with Simcoe, CTZ and Centennial.”

Biggest

Mumford & 8-Bit Megabytes IPA / 9.00% – “NE IPA brewed with the homies from @8bitbrewingcompany. Hopped w/ Simcoe + X10416.”

Sean Suggests for May 2020

Sean Suggests for March 2020

Let’s do some back and forth traveling. Starting west, then east and then back for a style-mashup.

~Light
Indie Brewing Beverly Pils – 5.00%
“Clean, crisp, Bohemian pilsner brewed with 100% Weyermann malt. Light and delicious!”

~Medium
Allagash CrossPath Golden Ale – 5.50%
“To celebrate the versatility of Maine’s grain, we teamed up with GrandyOats to create this Organic Belgian-style golden ale. It’s brewed with all-organic, Maine-grown oats, buckwheat, base malt, hops, and GrandyOats Granola. Allagash and GrandyOats both owe much of their success to the bounty of their home state. We hope you enjoy this refreshing tribute to Maine’s agricultural renaissance. A portion of this beer’s proceeds goes to MOFGA, to help farmers transition to organic crops. ”

~BIG
Stone Peak Conditions – 8.10%
“West Coast hops. East Coast haze. Passion fruit, orange and guava juice inspired by the popular Hawaiian drink. This ridiculously tasty double IPA combines influences from across the country into one of the most flavorful beers we’ve ever released. One could call it a perfect storm, we’d say it’s Peak Conditions.”

Sean Suggests for January 2020

Today we focus on new beers coming from NorCal to Socal from Seismic Brewing.

~LIGHT
Seismic Brewing / Alluvium Pilsner 5.0% ABV
“Inspired by the traditional pilsners of Northern Germany, Alluvium is brewed with 100% California grown and malted barley to get the crisp, clean finish that is a hallmark of German Pilsner. Generously hopped, Alluvium is aromatically imbued with spicy noble hops and a pleasantly bitter finish.”

~MEDIUM
Seismic Brewing / Magnetic Midnight Black Lager 5.0% ABV
“Magnetic Midnight is constructed of a clean all-California grown and malted base with the added color of an especially dark malt. German Noble hops added late in the brewing process provide a subtle fruitiness and spiciness to complement the malty, cocoa finish.”

~BIG
Seismic Brewing / Shatter Cone IPA 7.0% ABV
“Intensely aromatic, Shatter Cone features a bouquet of strawberry, stonefruit, melon, and citrus. The palate is bright, crisp, and acidic with a punch of clean bitterness which gives way to a lemon/orange and concord grape profile overlaid on a neutral malt canvas.”

All of these beers can be found at Sunset Beer Co. (unless they got bought up real quick)

Sean Suggests for May 2019

I taste colors.  No not caught smuggling CBD oil anywhere.  Just the theme for this month’s beer shopping list.

~LIGHT
Allagash / Darling Ruby 4.50% ABV
“Darling Ruby is a refreshing farmhouse ale with a twist: grapefruit juice and zest. The beer’s specific style is a grisette, a light and refreshing cousin of the modern saison. The combination of a grisette and citrus whirls tangy notes together with tropical aromas-all before landing on a beautifully dry finish.”

~MEDIUM
Upland Iridiescent Apricot 6.00% ABV
“This beer was developed through extensive experimentation by our brewers with different combinations of dried fruits and spices, using Basis as the base beer. Iridescent is a refreshing blonde sour ale, with aromas of apricot and ginger that are followed by tart and tropical flavors after aging in wine barrels for 3-4 months. As the name implies, the flavor of this sour beer appears to change subtly with each sip.”

~BIG
Finback / Ultramarine IPA 7.10% ABV
“IPA double dry hopped with Mosaic and Amarillo.”

All of these beers can be found at Sunset Beer Co. (unless they got bought up real quick)

Sean Suggests for April 2019

Let’s put the focus on some new hops, including one of my new favorites, Strata.

~LIGHT
Fair State / Strata 6.20% ABV
“Strata is the only hop variety used in this DDH Hazy IPA”

~MEDIUM
Novo Brazil / Sabro Haze 7.00% ABV
“Focusing on a unique New Mexican hop, the Sabro hop, Sabro Haze has distinct tangerine and tropical fruit, along with undercurrents of pine, mint, and cream. It is a complex and delightful beer that must be tried. “

~BIG
Pizza Port / Palapa IPA 7.20% ABV
“A fruity and dank IPA with heavy doses of Mosaic complimented by Waimea, Columbus, and Grungeist hops. Golden and bright in appearance with a crisp and dry finish”

All of these beers can be found at Sunset Beer Co. (unless they got bought up real quick)

Sean Suggests for March 2019

This Month let’s highlight a beverage from all of the West Coast states starting here in California then rolling up to Oregon for Cider and then to Washington State for something barrel-aged.

~LIGHT
Pizza Port / California Honey 5.0% ABV
“Light in color and body, this beer is brewed at both Pizza Port locations. A little heavier in alcohol than the Carlsbad Cream Ale, we use only the best California Honey to produce a subtle aroma and flavor in the finished product.”

~MEDIUM
Two Towns / Two Thorns 6.2% ABV
“This collaboration cider features fresh-pressed Northwest apples, raspberries, and rose petals to create a striking berry cider, perfect for pairing with header goals, and the smell of red smoke in the air at Providence Park.”

~BIG
Fremont / Brew 3K 13.2% ABV
“English-style barleywine aged thoughtfully for a year in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. Commemorating our 3,000th brew, Brew 3000 is our thanks to all of you for being our unwavering companions on this beer journey.”

All of these beers can be found at Sunset Beer Co. (unless they got bought up real quick)

This month, I went really random with the beer choices. I just picked the bottom three choices from the latest releases and added them to my pretend virtual shopping cart. Sometimes you need to take chances.

~LIGHT

“American Style Sour blonde ale with Raspberries and Boysenberries. Bottle conditioned with wild yeast and bacteria. Snugglebug will continue to develop if cellared properly.”

~MEDIUM

Our premium export lager is now being introduced in Scotland with the launch of Tennent’s Original Export, available now in supermarkets and local stores across the country.”

~BIG
Yazoo / Preservation Ale 6.00% ABV
“This Fresh Hop ale bursts with spicy citrus flavors from hops grown locally and picked fresh at Sulphur Creek Farm, with the proceeds benefitting the ‘Beaman Park to Bell’s Bend Conservation Corridor’.”
