For me, relax and unwind sounds fun but Prince George Day might be the most popular for Frogtown.

For me, relax and unwind sounds fun but Prince George Day might be the most popular for Frogtown.
Today marks the 5th Anniversary for Transplants Brewing up in the north and they have quite the sweet treat in store with a coconut and chocolate imperial stout. Now might be the time to make the drive.
The math is a little wonky but don’t tell MacLeod’s. For their 5th anniversary they will be pouring $3 pints all day.
Food and live screen printing of the MacLeod logo will be going on as well so head over to Van Nuys for some cask and non-cask English styled beers.
It will not come as a shock that the Modern Times 5th Anniversary beer is a DIPA and the jazzy, minimalist art telegraphs the brewery style too…
Time really does fly by. If I had been forced to guess what anniversary that the Glendale Tap was next to celebrate, I would have not guessed correctly. It is 5.
And on October 19th, they will be turning up their jukebox, selling $1 pizza slices and pouring from a taplist that I cannot wait to see and will be monitoring the interwebs for.
June was tough. In a good way but I am glad that the big L.A. fests are in the rearview and I don’t feel like I am missing some cool event every ten minutes. Here is what will be going on this month…
~ e-visits to three breweries from Detroit. Batch Brewing, Lake Brothers and Motor City Brewing Works
~ special featured reviews of a random set of beers as I catch up from L.A. Beer Week
~ Heads-Up on Los Angeles Beer Events
~ Three suggested beers to buy this month. One light, one medium and one dark
~ A Book & A Beer reads George Lucas – A Biography
~ I will tap the Firkin and give my no holds barred opinion on the craft beer world.
Here are two events to get your July started in the Los Angeles craft beer world:
1) July 1st – Canada Day at Southland Beer
2) July 7th-9th – Bravery Brewing 5th Anniversary Weekend
If I was closer, I would be visiting Select Beer Store the bottle shop/tap room much more often but maybe this will get me to take the drive from Glendale….
Saturday, March 11th. That is when Monkish Brewing will hit the big 5 milestone.
Follow the Monkish Facebook page to get all the updates. If they are pouring any of their IPA’s, it could get very crowded, very quick.
Looks like the band is getting back together at the 5 year anniversary as Brux, a beer both wild and domesticated will be coming back with what appears to be a Harry Potter styled lion patronus charging into and off of the label.
You can head to this cool website about Brux at I Think About Beer to refresh your memory.
Maybe October 22nd is an auspicious day to start selling craft beer. Not only does Southland Beer celebrate that day but so is Sunset Beer Co.!
The Echo Park beer stop is throwing a 5th Anniversary Party. To pique your interest they have been hoarding some kegs so expect what they call a “wild” tap list. Considering some of the beer events they have thrown recently, that could have some really rare treats a week before Halloween.
