Time for a 2nd

Time doesn’t seem less, seems like more. Yeah, a bit cryptic with the wordplay today but Timeless Pints has the brewery name to allow it + they are celebrating their 2nd Anniversary later this month.

TP is firmly in the re-check category. In my one and only other visit there were hits and misses but that was near the beginning so it may be past time to check them out again.

Pugachev goes Royale

hangar-24-logo

Hangar 24 Craft Brewery and their brand new branding are back for round 2 of their Barrel-Aged Beer Festival this December 7th, from 11am-4pm at their Redlands based Brewery.

This is your chance to sample many, many beers from the Hangar’s extensive barrel-aging program including the infamous Pugachev’s Cobra. To sweeten the pot, a brand new entry in the Barrel Roll series will be introduced: the very limited Pugachev Royale.

This was a fun event last year.  It is a long drive (unless you live out in the IE) but a good sized but not huge crowd was spread through the getting bigger brewery complex. And even though some of the rarer beers went quickly there was no wont of good beer choices.

Tony’s is 2

So many L.A. craft beer locales are turning two! I think it is a great age and a great sign that the beer culture is taking hold of the City of Angels. And here is all the info for next week’s party.

“To celebrate their 2nd anniversary, beloved Burbank watering hole Tony’s Darts Away will be more than doubling their size for the day by adding an extended outdoor deck and bar and hosting an all-day beer festival on Saturday, April 21st from 11am to close.

While they won’t be serving their regular brunch menu in the morning, the kitchen will be cranking out a selection of menu favorites from Chef Randal St. Clair all day long, including their Jailhouse tacos (vegan or non-vegan chili ladled over Fritos, jalapenos, salsa, Daiya or Tillamook cheddar, sour cream optional) and popular vegan and non vegan sausages.

Of course, a celebration of Tony’s Darts Away would be nothing without beer – and beer champion Paige Reilly will be tapping some extremely rare specialty brews throughout the day, including Cuvee de Tomme, Supplication, Sucaba, 4 Calling Birds and MUCH more.”

Admission is $30 (includes 5 generous taster pours and a commemorative glass)

Note: additional tasters can be purchased on site (5 for $20)

A limited number of presale tickets are available for purchase at Tony’s Darts Away.

Eagle Rock’s 2nd Anniversary

Eagle Rock Brewery celebrated the Deuce yesterday. Both the anniversary and the anniversary beer. It was a bright sunny day with a big crowd ready to sample a wide spectrum of Eagle Rock’s brews.

Beer Buddy Richard and I waited in line and quickly grabbed our taster glasses and tickets. I started with Tarte Noir a lovely sour beer with big dark fruit tastes and then went bigger with the Deuce.

This anniversary edition (in bottles too!) is an amped up version of their classic Solidarity. Which has also spawned a vanilla bean nitro version which I also had a glass of too. It is big and defies easy adjectives. It isn’t super chocolately or roasty and it is almost more Belgian-y than English. Dark fruits and some light coffee notes.

Oddly enough, the biggest line was for the taps that housed Stimulus and Red Velvet instead of the new beer. Then I tried the Red Velvet which had been run through a randall and tasted why. It was lighter and less hoppy than I remembered the original award winner being and it had a lovely tea taste infused all the way through it.

It was my favorite even though I went back for seconds on the Deuce and bought a bottle later at the brewery.

Thanks to Jeremy and the hard working Eagle Rock crew who had to man the tap room right after the party. And also a big shout out to Ryan Sweeney and the Verdugo folks for hosting.

Terrible Two’s

Can you believe it? Eagle Rock has entered the terrible two’s! It is amazing to think of the L.A. beer scene before and after. So, you had better be on the eastside next week….

“Come join us for our 2-year anniversary celebration at the brewery! We’ll be celebrating another amazing year by featuring many of our special beers on tap in the taproom and an outdoor beer garden (Sorry, no pets or children permitted.). Grill Em’ All and Mandoline Grill will be at the brewery to celebrate with us and serving up some of our favorite eats.

Need more of a reason? It’s only $12 for admission and all attendees get a commemorative taster glass to take home (while supplies last)! Come out and celebrate with us!”

UPDATE
The celebration has been moved to the Verdugo Bar. Same time and food and beer and good times too.

The Bruery turns two

I am heartily impressed by the people at the Bruery. They improved on their 1st party! They changed up to 4 sessions. Capped admittance. Added an auxilliary bar for the “strong” stuff, and it worked beautifully.
