I had the opportunity to watch Sumo highlights from the latest tournament in Japan AND also taste some different Sakes, Soju and even a divisive Makegeolli.
We had a hazy Sake which was a mixed bag to me. Seemed a little milky at first then went into the ABV. I found it better than the fancy clear Sake (the one in the fancy round rope container). The clear winner was the plain Jinro Soju mixed with Korean Descending Tiger ale. Individually, the beer was a little watery but with that Soju punch, it filled out. The chestnut Makegeolli was weird but I liked it. There was a bit of bubbly at first and then a watery coffee shake finish. No one else could stomach it especially with the Sumo butt on the screen.
